This isn’t the first time that settlers have attacked the Jumma peoples like this. It’s shameful, systemic and racial violence, enforced and aided and abetted by military officials.

The Bangladesh security forces have also shown deep prejudice against the Indigenous people, arresting a student organizer of the protest and standing by as Jummas and their homes were attacked. The Indigenous people have been officially blamed for causing the unrest in the area.

But the settlers and military have responded with violence: three people were reportedly shot dead when soldiers opened fire on the protesters, with more than 30 others injured during the violent clashes, when Indigenous-owned shops and houses were burned down.

In the Chittagong Hill Tracts in Bangladesh, an Indigenous Jumma schoolgirl, aged 12, was gang r*ped by Bengali settlers on her way back home from her lessons in September 2025.

Indigenous Jumma people took to the streets in peaceful protest against this horrific crime.

A new ‘extermination campaign’ is threatening to destroy the lives of uncontacted peoples in Peru. A number of proposed bills could open up uncontacted peoples’ territories to gas and oil, and restrict the recognition of much-needed reserves for uncontacted peoples.

Thanks to Survival’s supporters, we purchased equipment to repair a broken borehole in the central community of Mothomelo. After hours of determined effort by Mothomelo’s residents, water began to gush from the ground once more.

The Indigenous people there rely on sporadic deliveries from trucks towing water tanks through the desert, but the trucks often break down, and never carry enough water. The water is pumped from a borehole on their land, but they’re blocked from accessing it.
