Since yesterday, 12 October 2025, the Schengen states including Switzerland started the gradual introduction of the new Entry/Exit System (#EES). The system will digitally register entries and exits of third-country nationals across the #Schengen area.

Several of Switzerland’s iconic lakes are shared with our EU neighbors — and for many communities, lakes are part of the transport network ⛴️.

Ferries and boats regularly cross national boundaries, making it possible to commute between Switzerland and EU countries.

The second Swiss contribution enables Switzerland to help promote cohesion and stability in Europe.

Second Swiss Contribution

The second Swiss contribution (2019–29) to selected EU member states is an investment in Europe's security, stability and prosperity and is thus in Switzerland's national interest. By making this second contribution, Switzerland is also strengthening and deepening bilateral relations with its partner countries and the EU as a whole.

With a contribution of CHF 60 million, Switzerland has approved accords to help #Greece, #Cyprus and #Bulgaria receive unaccompanied minors seeking asylum in the European Union.

The Federal Council has approved the agreements in the new package to stabilise and further develop Switzerland's relationship with the EU. It has also opened the domestic consultation process on the Swiss-EU package.
