On the 60th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act, I stood with Texas legislators fighting gerrymandered maps—a blatant power grab to silence voters. They’ll try it in SC too. We must fight for fair maps & every voice to be heard. 🗳✊🏾 #VRA60 #FairMaps #SCPol
At @NCSLorg talking #Census2030. The count decides political maps + billions for our communities.

TX shows how lines can be drawn to silence voices. In 2030, we must ALL be counted & demand fair maps that reflect every community. 🗳️

It was great seeing you . It was a beautiful day.
If I missed some of our elected officials please chime in. I was delighted to speak with @tameikaisaacdevine.bsky.social @drjljohnson.bsky.social and Rep Todd Rutherford.
There were thousands of patriots at the Statehouse today! What a glorious day to celebrate #NoKings #scpol
Beautiful day of peaceful protests at the #NoKings rally. It was great to see so many people standing up and speaking out.

Kristi Noem must resign. She has deported a four year old with cancer, detained a U.S. marshal, and arrested two members of Congress. She’s lost the confidence of the American people. ICE must stop terrorizing our communities.

If they can do this to a Senator, they'll do it to anyone else.
My statement about the Flag Day protest planned for June 14 in SC and response to the statement issued by SC Attorney General Alan Wilson.
Honored to co-host Gov. Wes Moore & First Lady Dawn Moore during #SCDEMWeekend for a powerful business brunch & chat w/ Rick C. Wade.

I was able to gift them SC treasures from Jonathan Green, Dawn Staley, & A’ja Wilson as a thank-you for their bold, inspiring leadership—locally & nationally. 💜
Today, we honor the brave men & women who gave their lives in service to this nation.

As we reflect, we must also reckon with the reality that many of those freedoms are under threat.

Let us not just honor the fallen with words, but with action. Let us defend the democracy they died to protect.
Sending prayers to President Joe Biden, Jill and the entire Biden family. We know Joe is a fighter and God is a healer. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Today, I had the honor of meeting with members of the Botswana Parliament during their visit to Columbia, SC. It was a powerful exchange of ideas on governance, economic development, and the shared commitment to building stronger communities across the globe.
Last day of session and I couldn’t be prouder to stand alongside these fierce Democratic Senators. This session brought some wins and some losses, but through it all, we fought tirelessly for the people of South Carolina.

Happy Sine Die!

What an honor to welcome the Ridgeview High School Boys Basketball team, the Keenan High School Boys Basketball team and the Blythewood High School Girls Basketball Ball team. All of these State Championship teams excel both on and off the court and District 19 is proud of them
Wow. It has been some week in the SC Senate. From the hearing and vote on the SC Treasurer to the State Budget vote. I have a lot to say in this week’s update. Make sure you follow me on IG and turn on your alerts so you can hear my recap Thursday afternoon.
It was a pleasure welcoming the student council from @CarverLyon Elementary Language Immersion Magnet School in @RichlandOne . The languages these young people are learning are Spanish, Mandarin Chinese and French.
Republicans just dropped a 14 page amendment to the school voucher bill & when asked if we could delay the vote until next week to allow us to read it, they said no & passed it anyway.

Out of the 29 Senators who voted for this bill, I wonder how many of them actually read it. 🤦🏾‍♀️
Monday the City of Columbia dedicated to community center at Earlewood park in memory of longtime community leader Virginia Bedford.

It was such an honor as Senator for the area, longtime Earlewoodian and dear friend of Virginia’s to celebrate her in such an amazing way.

Her legacy lives on ❤️
Still in awe of the thousands of people who came out Saturday to the SC Statehouse for the #HandsOff rally.

In near record heat, people showed up to send a message.

Fear has a way of being contagious.

But courage is also contagious.
