She is perfect, except for one thing.

On the left side of her face is a kiss the color of fine wine. A birthmark from a glass poured by unseen hands.

Her mother hates this, of course. She looks down at the girl with stern eyes, noting the smear across her cheek.

A blossom eternal is not grown from the earth; it is constructed. To be flawed is to be human, and those who made history, were never, ever, human.

The girl stands in front of a gargantuan painting: flowers memorialized permanently in this museum. If she is overcome by its vastness, it does not show on her face. But, her attention will soon be sought by a different source. Now, it approaches from behind.

"Um,"

A young boy walks over, arms raised so as to demonstrate his harmlessness (a pre-emptive surrender on his part).

"I-I'm sorry if I'm interrupting something! I don't mean to scare you or anything." He's nervous. His mouth begs her to understand he means no harm.

"I... I wanted to say, you look just like this painting!"

The air falters. The girl's expression, which had remained impassive all this time, shifts. Her eyes widen. Her lips part, as though about to speak, but there is no sound. And the stain— no, the kiss: it blooms across her face, as the peonies do in the oils behind her.

The silence in the gallery resembles the sound of a seed being planted.

It started nearly 2 years ago! My initial concept was;
a young girl, seemingly alone in the world, slowly walks to figure out where she is, and what it means for her.

🪽 The wingless angel's theme is lost in faith. An artificial man-made angel eventually gains humanity only to be betrayed by the Eden whom he devoted for all his life. Experiencing grievance for the first time despite contradictory to his program to only show positive emotions.

🎨The painter's theme is hopelessness, he express his grief with a layer of madness. Unable to accept the absence of his brother and the face blindness condition. Deep inside he knows his brother's corpse whereabouts; the brother's favorite place, lotus pond. Yet he'll never acknowledge it.
