Magic Card of the Day: Brawn

Incarnations are my favorite type due to its flavor of a concept manifested. Brawn epitomizes graveyard effects, the effect only active if you have lost the creature but its presence is felt across the battlefield. With one of the best flavor texts, it inspired me. #mtg

As long as this card is in your graveyard and you control a Forest, creatures you control have trample.

It has to be rule 0ed. Currently my understanding is this is prevented by - 903.11. Except via rules, special actions, and effects that specifically bring cards into Commander games from outside the game, traditional cards from outside the game cannot be brought into a Commander game.

Magic Card of the Day: Stitch Together

Reanimation for 2 is crazy work even with the “difficulties” of achieving threshold. I love threshold but modern graveyard shenanigans just can set it up too quickly with mill and fetches. Delirium is more work, but serves the same job. #mtg

I think the one risk with block is that block is a multi-set commitment so failure is much more punishing if a set didn’t hit right. In the past the block format meant if you didn’t like a theme, you were out for a year. I loved blocks but I think the market data suggests it’s not optimal.

Not a huge deal! It’s a great art!

Just a quick note the text is slightly off, Ovika makes X 1/1s not an X/X.

Magic Card of the Day: Wormfang Manta

Look, looping additional turns is obnoxious but I love cards like this that have interesting downsides. With modern magic design there are few of these problem cards that have interesting solutions. What would you do with this beast fish? #mtg

This was a great game last night but I couldn’t have closed out the game without my trusty @infinitokens.com ! My 12 golems and angels helped me close out the game!

I built a theme like this but for Boros with Joshua, Phoenix’s Dominant. The goal is to cycle creatures in snd out of the graveyard, exploding as they change zones. moxfield.com/decks/xooOXl...

No problem! Toughness is tough because unlike other games toughness isn’t a heath pool, it’s more like a damage target. 🎯 you must assign this much damage to kill this, but damage doesn’t remove toughness. Think of me when you need assistance!
teagrandarbiter.bsky.social
It survives. Lethal damage cannot kill an indestructible creature. It’s a 4/4 creature with -3/-3 making it a 1/1 with one damage marked on it!

Magic Card of the Day: Browbeat

I know it says draw three cards. I know it’s in red and that’s a crazy rate. It is never happening. But if you wanna watch three players debate who’s gonna take the 5 damage, it’s kind of a fun social experiment. Just know you are adding it for the mini game. #mtg

It does sort of feel like a lightning strike experience here cause it just hit right in the correct window. It certainly is speaking to a lot of folks experience or for detractors, is a thing to be upset at. It is unfortunate how effective the algorithm is at spreading “controversy” over content

Magic Card of the Day: Nomad Mythmaker

This week is about one of my favorite sets, Judgement. A bizarre set with more Green and White cards.

This card gets better every year. Auras have become powerful and now sky’s the limit. Voltron should consider this as a way to rebuild after a wipe! #mtg

Magic Card of the Day: Shapesharer

This card is deceptively simple, but has so much depth. On the surface it’s a temporary clone, possible best in Kindred decks, but you can also change ANY shapeshifter making any shapeshifter/Changeling, into anything. For you, all forms are temporary. #mtg

Magic Card of the Day: Woodland Guidance

I know it’s well past day now! This card was really improved by how many things are Forests 🌳 and of course Yavimaya. With a high mana value deck you can bring something back and then clash to untap to cast it this turn! Talk about verdant tech! #mtg

Return target card from your graveyard to your hand. Clash with an opponent. If you win, untap all Forests you control. (Each clashing player reveals the top card of their library, then puts that card on their choice of the top or bottom. A player wins if their card had a greater mana value.)
