Namari no Namida is Hisame's Zanpakuto. It's sealed form is unremarkable with the exception of a long, forward curving handle. Its tsuba is circular, with a silver tear drop on either side of the blade.

800 years ago, Hisame's grandfather was a Soul Reaper. He wielded Namari no Namida, gleefully keeping it sealed, never desiring more. The man believed that releasing a Zanpakuto proved you were either too weak to win a fight, or too stupid to avoid it.

《The Spirit》
Namari no Namida's spirit takes the form of a young woman, appearing no older than Hisame. She wears a long cloak, covering every inch of her body. Due the family rule, she grows tired of waiting, often manifesting to try and goad Hisame into violent outbursts.

Once in Namari no Namida's range, it is nearly impossible to escape. The slightest movement causes one to be targeted. Bullets will relentlessly hail down until the target has been neutralized. Once this Bankai is released, Hisame has no control over it.

When called upon, the weapon flies into the sky. During its ascent, Hisame is left defenseless. Once it reaches its maximum height, clouds roll in, blotting out the sky. Everything within 1000 meters of its release has become part of its trap.

When released, Namari no Namida takes the form of a large, six shot revolver. The bullets are under Hisame's complete control, being able to change direction, velocity, and even certain physical properties at will.

《The Hisame Legacy》
Unlike ordinary Zanpakutos, Namari no Namida has been inherited throughout the Hisame family. Ever since the blade's first wielder, the family has held a rule. Releasing Namari no Namida's shikai is shameful. Releasing it's Bankai is grounds for banishment.

400 years after her grandfather, Hisame's father took up the blade. As per his father's doctrine, the blade remained sealed. After learning about the existence of Bankai, he sought to find Namari no Namida's. His failure led to the banning of Bankai in the family.

Despite her resolve, once in a while, Namari no Namida will win. Nao may give in to the blade's influence, allowing it's psychotic tendencies free. This is visualized by a mist hanging in the air around Nao.

This time has also allowed Nao to understand the true nature of her blade. She knows how to unleash its Bankai, though is unable due to the family rule. To release it would mean banishment from the Hisame family and shame for the rest of her life.

Due to this self-imposed isolation, Nao has had considerable time to train with Namari no Namida. The spirit speak to her, begging her to use it, to kill with it. In a way, her condition prevents her from cracking under the pressure of Namari no Namida's spirit.

This is partly due to Nao's brain. She suffers from schizoid personality disorder. This causes her to remain withdrawn from social activities. Her emotional responses are also hampered by this disorder.

Nao doesn't believe this doctrine, yet she follows it. Everything in her life has been so rehearsed and planned that there was no use trying to change anything. Nao tries to keep a low profile, not drawing attention to herself within the squad, rarely interacting with others.
