Get to know me though the games I play each month. In October I played:

- Megabonk
- Valor Mortis Preview
- Oaken Tower (Demo)
- Pokemon Legends: Z-A
- Mercator
- Dredge (yes finally!)

After completing Dredge, my big takeaway is that I need to go read The Shadow Over Innsmouth.
My favorite is "X game is bad because it's political, but Y (very politically coded but slightly more subtle about it / referencing things they don't understand) game is good because it's NOT political."
I wish there was a way to prioritize videos/articles from 2021 and earlier when searching for stuff.

It's a nice night for fishing. Is it normal to catch a fish with 6 eyes or an eel with a black hole at its core?
After getting about half way through Dredge I've realized it is neither a fishing game, nor a horror game. It's a character driven narrative game where you just happen to spend some time dodging sea monsters and catching fish in between.

The Japanese Patent Office has rejected Nintendo and The Pokémon Company's "Monster Capture" patent, which could mean problems for their lawsuit against Palworld.

The first thing I thought was "is it Ubisoft, Amazon, or Microsoft?"
Dredge is both very chill, and also reminds me of the existential terror of seeing something in the water while playing Sunless Seas.
I felt the exact same thing recently while playing the demo for Light Odyssey. The minimalistic black/white world, and eerie vibes reminded me a lot of what I loved about Grime. But I felt the combat was held back by souls tropes like needing to have a parry/3 charge heal.
Congrats on 2 years and 500,000 subs!
Celebrating two years of Second Wind (Nov 15) and 500,000 subs with the part of the team that’s out in Wisconsin!

Thanks to our amazing community for making this happen!
Somehow half the time I ask AI a simple question it fails to give me the answer... so I'm baffled at how anyone thinks it can make a video game.
Rolled credits on Z-A, and I was pleasantly surprised. There was more to the story than I remember from most of the earlier Pokémon games, felt more like playing through the events from one of the early movies.
I have been disappointed in the discussion around games for awhile now. It's far too easy to make a critical video/article after a couple hours (or having not played the game at all) with a clickbait title to get tons of views... While genuine, thoughtful criticism is often buried by the algorithms.
I did not get to try many Steam Next demos, and TBH a lot of the ones I tried did not hook me like they usually do. So probably no dedicated video on that though I'll talk about a couple in my "games I played in October" later this month!
I have thoughts on why so many people (myself included) just want to do one more run in Megabonk.

Why is Megabonk so ADDICTING?

The same goes for genres, I no longer want a bullet heaven game that is reskinned vampire survivors, or a souls like that is just "dark souls but change it up a bit." This is why I enjoyed Megabonk, and found Valor Mortis intruguing.
Gameplay wise, Hades 2 is quite similar to Hades, Monster Train 2 is similar to Monster train, etc. But I would not want a Hades 3, or Monster Train 3 which was the same game but more... At that point, I want something new.
I've been having a blast, because it feels very different than the Pokemon games I remember (FR/LG/Emerald).

But this applies to other things I play as well. I think it's ok, and often a good idea for direct sequels to be similar to the original, so that the skills from one transfer to the other.
