Q: How long would backup creators have?

Q: "In the case where someone is unable to complete their part of the exchange, would you be willing to step in as a backup artist/writer?"

At what point would that be? As in, how much time would a backup have?

A: 1.5 months upon assignment. A backup could be assigned early if someone drops before the deadline; otherwise, I'll be checking who hasn't given me a response the day before submissions close, and reach out to backups accordingly.

Q: Does "OC" in this context mean completely original characters?

are we allowed to add completely original characters we have, or is the oc section just for aus we've made of canon deltarune character?

A: Yes, completely original characters are the intended definition of an OC here! OCs to AUs, to anything in between. They can be romantic partners, haters, one of his employees, etc. As long as they have some relation to Tenna, who is the main focus of this exchange.

For the reference part of the wishlist, I'm planning to post references of the AU Tenna's I'd like to include in it on my blog. For the reference section of the wishlist, could I link to a post I make for the character IF it is the sole/primary focus of that post?

A: Yes, that's fine! Linking to outside/more in-depth resources for a reference is okay and honestly expected; that section of the wishlist is more for summaries so you can give your secret santa a quick idea of your character before they settle in.

A: You simply make a copy of the template and then edit the text as needed. Although it's not even mandatory to use the template; so long as you follow the information on it, you can just make your own.

Q: How does a writer submit something for the art example?

Q: Sorry to bother! But a little thing i dont have clear is: in the art submission part, if you are a writer, how would we submit that exactly? A link or something? 🤔

A: A link, yes! It can be to something you've posted on Ao3, or a document stored on GDrive, or something else I can access. It doesn't have to be complete either; a drabble is fine as long as you believe it's representative of what you can do.

Q: (Clarification of the rules) Is it okay to request the kids hanging out with Tenna?

Q: Hi,I have a question regarding the rules:

You separated "ship" from "platonic" but only said "no underage ships". Would something like Kris/Susie just regularly hanging out with Tenna, playing video games or watching a movie count?

Or the silly idea of giving Tenna to Berdly because gamers like the input lag of old TVs?

A: Ships between the kids like Kris/Susie, Susie/Noelle, etc. are fine! I'm specifically avoiding depictions of a kid being romantically involved with Tenna. (Or with another adult in general.) It's a pretty specific rule, but I wanted to be thorough.

General interactions between Tenna and the kids are absolutely welcome though. There's a lot of potential for fun and interesting dynamics there.

Can I use Twitter as my primary contact?

A) Do you have to be a specific age range to join?

B) I heard about a Discord server ("primary contact" section of the application) yet can't find the link, do you know where I can find it?

C) Can I link a Twitter acc as a primary contact?

A: A) As long as you're old enough to be using this site, you're free to join.

B) The server is not publicly available, and will only be handed out to accepted participants. It's only for announcements, and not for general chatter (sorry 😔), so it's not necessarily important.

C) I'd prefer either Bluesky or Tumblr if possible, as those are what I'm available on.

Q: Is the reference page for OCs or canon characters?

Q: helloo i'm very excited for the gift exchange, and the wishlist format (and all the assets and art for the blog too) looks so nice!!

I wanted to make sure, are the character references on the second page meant to be for ocs or canon characters?

A: The reference section is for OCs or AUs! They're to provide extra resources for your secret santa to work with. Canon characters aren't necessary to add unless there's a specific flavor of them you want to present.

Q: Are Tenna OCs allowed?

A: Tenna OCs are allowed! Just make sure you have a decent reference for them (fullbody, flat colors at minimum). Not strictly required, but I'd also recommend writing wishlist options that focus on or include in-game Tenna as well.

Q: How exactly does this event work?

Q: I wouldn't mind to join but like... I barely understand what this is about... It's like a Christmas special? I get that no Nsfw isn't allowed. But like... If I wanna be an artist what stuff do I need to make? And how does it work? And remember I don't really wanna be paid I just wanna have fun. :] so could you please explain it for dummies like me?? That be kind!

A: No problem! Rest assured, there is no payment involved in this event as it's meant to be done with our collective love for a singular character. [cont.]

A: If you're unfamiliar with Secret Santas, it's a group activity where each participant is randomly assigned to another member of the group and make them a gift. No one knows who got who, hence the "secret" aspect. You're only responsible for the person you've been given, and try your best to fulfill whatever is on their wishlist. You can't show what you made either, even if you finish early! You have to wait until the deadline passes, after which everyone will be able to reveal what they've made at the same time.

As an artist, you'd be drawing something that your recipient has asked for. They should have multiple prompts for you to choose from, but you only have to do one. (Though nothing is stopping anyone from doing more, if they desire.) This can be an illustration, a comic, an animation-- whatever you think would be within your ability and most fun to do.

Hopefully this is comprehensive enough to understand. If there's anything you're confused about, feel free to send another ask.

Q: Will there be pinch hitters?

Q: Hello!! This looks like fun!!

i’ve been in holiday exchange events before where for some reason or another participants did not receive their gifts and there were people who volunteered in advance to be “pinch hitters” to fulfill the giftees’ request—are y’all planning on having something like that in place?

A: Yes, there will be!

The application form will ask if you'd like to be considered as a pinch hitter, so if a situation comes up where someone is unable to fulfill their part, I'll randomly draw from the list of people who volunteered and assign them to the opened recipient.

Q: Are other creatives that don't draw nor write allowed to join?

Q: Hey, I'm super excited for this exchange but I have a question about the art example. I don't draw or write but I sew/needle felt (think like plushies, little soft figures, etc) is that acceptable? I really want to participate but I also don't want to cause any headaches for the team. Thanks!

A: Yes, that's totally fine! As long as you think you can handle it within the 2 month deadline.

Q: What do the "options" for the wishlist mean?

Q: Hi! I have a question about what's on the wishlist section of the site. It says " Provide at minimum TWO options for your potential gifter to choose from."

I'm not sure if that means we have to have at minimum 2 characters or 2 suggestions of what to draw? Or something else?

A: It means suggestions! Just come up with more than one prompt that you'd like to see explored with Tenna, so that whoever's assigned to you will have room to decide what to do.

When the wishlist template opens, there will be an example sheet as well, to help give an idea how it works. But it's basically stuff like "Tenna and Spamton celebrating their first Christmas together", "Tenna searches for the perfect gift for [my OC]", "What if Tenna was snatched away before he could make it to Castle Town", etc.

Q: Is a WIP longfic okay for the art example?

Q: hello! for the art example, i wanted to ask if a wip longfic is ok? or if you need to write a oneshot to submit instead.

A: That's perfectly fine, as long as you think it contains what you consider polished or your best work. You can even choose a single chapter or isolate a particular segment to submit if you think it gives the best idea of your writing.
