(2/2) 🌟 Why Join? Shape the future of CRRS technology!
Contribute to groundbreaking research!
Deadline is on 31 January 2024.

📌Participants will be acknowledged in our research publication! Let's push the boundaries of CRRS together! 🌍🛰️

Sharing this post is encouraged!
Our expert on interdisciplinary work - Markus Eichhorn! An infinite pool of motivating messages for students! One of them: Do the crazy call! He encourages students to go out of the box, break the boundaries disciplines place on us and approach people with ideas to collaborate!
We interviewed students about their interdisciplinary experience: “If you don’t understand something, it’s good to take a step back & take it as a challenge”says Lucas Chojnacki (University of Wageningen). This, and seeing what results he’s aiming at while programming helps!
Sabina transitioned from grasslands to unmanaged forests for her PhD. Adapting to new methods, she sought reliable help for data collection in remote areas. Contacts from various fields helped in her research which she now shares with by chairing a Cost Action!🌳#Bottomsup
Empowering Sustainable Forests!🌳 Our partner, the BottomsUp network gathers biodiversity data to enhance eco-friendly forest management. Innovative indicators and local research efforts lead the way to a healthier ecosystem.💚 #BottomsUp #SustainableForestry #BiodiversityMatters
Process-based Modelling - why it makes sense! With using models we can understand complex systems and for example estimate future development of European forests! 🌳 All models need data, which we can get from observations! #PROCLIAS #EcosystemModeling #ClimateChange
When Peter started to get into modeling it was a big challenge, but closely listening to people and staying open minded helped him a lot when getting into this new discipline - and now he wants to use these skills for his research!
“I think that the connection between people is the most important thing in science!” @PeterPetrk8 from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology knows that good ideas come from collaborations - which is why he attends the summer school! 🌲🌳
Meet Laura, Co-Chair in the PROCLIAS Group and excited about getting into topics & finding solutions for problems. She has been doing process-based ecosystem modeling since her PhD and feels like summer schools are always refreshing because meeting new people brings new ideas!
Combating Climate Change! PROCLIAS brings researchers together for cross-sectoral climate impact studies. Harmonized datasets and robust process-based modeling help us understand climate impacts better. Let's make a difference!#ClimateChangeResearch #GlobalImpact @climateimpacts_
Let’s talk about what we learned! @3DForEcoTech focuses on how to monitor and understand forests with terrestrial based technologies - and in the summer school we taught students how to process the data from the field! Aren’t these point clouds beautiful? 🌳😇 #pointcloud #forest
Meet Arunima - student and trainer of the #supersummerschool! In her scientific career she overcame many challenges. For #interdisciplinary work she recommends to be open minded, to listen to people and not to let yourself be discouraged if you need time to understand each other!
Meet Martin, the Chair of 3DforEcotech!🌐 He brought three CostActions together to create an interdisciplinary experience for students. This summer school was an experiment, and he’is impressed by how students applied their new knowledge to enhance their research. 🚀#3DforEcotech
Monitoring & understanding forest ecosystems through close-range remote sensing is the focus of @3DForEcoTech COST Action. Scientists & stakeholders collaborate to standardize protocols & algorithms for remote sensing-based forest surveys. #3DforEcoTech #ForestMonitoring
“To solve problems you need to bring people together” as @m_mokros, one of the organizers of our #supersummerschool said. So we did🌍: 80 Scientists from 25 countries spent a week in Ljubiljana, Slovenia to exchange knowledge and broaden their horizons - and this is the map!
Bridging disciplines made easy! 💬 First challenge: Master the 30-second elevator pitch – introducing your scientific work to someone from a different background! 🎙️ Can you find the perfect words? Share your own elevator pitch in the comments! #forestecology #supersummerschool
Where minds converge, innovation emerges. 🤝🔬 Interdisciplinarity is when diverse fields, like in our case close-range remote sensing, biodiversity research and climate modeling, join to tackle complex challenges by breaking barriers, rethinking methods and combining expertise!
The #supersummerschool was a unique blend of cutting edge sensors, software, applied research on biodiversity, modeling and social exchange! It gives the opportunity to connect with research experts, fellow students, gain new skills, and change science with your new connections!
How come that the three projects joined forces for a #supersummerschool? All the projects - @Cost_BottomsUp , 3DforEcotech and @climateimpacts_ are Actions funded by @COSTprogramme, which enables researchers to create interdisciplinary networks - and that’s what we went for! 🌳
📢 Big announcement! Content from the @COSTprogramme Super Summer School on forest ecosystems, featuring @3DforEcoTech, @climateimpacts_, and @Cost_BottomsUp, is coming your way! Follow us for exciting updates, insights, and more. Let's explore the world of forests together!
Our WG 6 is organising STSM. 📢 The location is Forest Research Institute, Sękocin Stary, Poland. Duration period: 1st December 2023 – 28th February 2024. The deadline for application is October 10th 2023. Check for details 👇

Sunday field excursion to learn different approaches of data collection used by foresters to enhance transdisciplinary understanding 📸🌳 thx Lea for the great introduction!
Photo dump from our contributions of this year's @Silvilaser23 in London! It was a very nice week with a lot if very interesing talks, posters amd discussions, thx @UCLgeography for the great organisation!
