Today I led a debate in Westminster on our National Trails, including the Thames Path and the closed Marsh Lock Horsebridge. I’ve been campaigning to reopen it with local Brownie Claudia. Funding for plans is secured but there’s still a long way to go!

#fingerpostfriday the Thames Path across Benson Weir is due to reopen in Spring 2026. The EA contractor is rebuilding the weir with new radial gates, fish pass and a wide walkway. Benson Ferry operates in summer. Thames Path diversion👇

Starting today from Malmesbury, the Athelstan 1100 Pilgrim Walk arrives in Kingston-on-Thames on 4 September, 800 years to the day of the coronation of Athelstan. The Pilgrim Walk includes the #ThamesPath Cricklade to Wallingford and Henley to Kingston 👇

The X40 River Rapids bus service is popular with National Trails walkers on the #ThamesPath and the Ridgeway because it stops at convenient locations to access these long-distance walking routes and connects with @gwr.com rail services at Reading.
