Someone on X raised that too. I said to him it felt like *too* much of a cheat, given it's not episodic and is a special. I know we have no rules on List Makers and we can interpret things how we like, but I didn't feel it was entirely in the spirit of the topic. Revelation on the other hand... ;)

Spot on. When you’re truly terrifying/in control/smartest in the room/whatever (and you know it), you don’t need to yell and bluster. Villains who just calmly and matter of factly tell the truth about their schemes and desires are beyond scary to me!

Certainly spooky coming via a dead man, but I think it can be true of any villain or monster who speaks calmly and normally in general, while retaining great menace. It's why I'm amazed they keep doing the Master as 'Bwahahaha! I'm eeevil! And craaazy!' when a much calmer take would be 20x scarier.

University, 1995. I'm 20, have borrowed Chris Isaak's hair, and am goofing around on the main lawn. I've probably just been to a lecture and am about to go off to the computer lab to play with email/Usenet/IRC; stuff I discovered in 1993 and have become obsessed with.
