📌 #Greece had more than double the #EU-27 average increase in #gasconsumption in the first 8 months of 2025 (7.7% for Greece, 3.8% for EU-27).
16 Member States increased consumption while 9 decreased it, with Sweden and Estonia leading the way (-17.1% and -14.3% resp.).

📊 The first source of #imports in the first 9 months of 2025 was #LNG with 22.8 TWh and a 81% increase compared to 2024.
However, in September #Russiangas imports (2.51 TWh) exceeded those of LNG (1.63 TWh).

➡️ At 4.98TWh, domestic gas consumption was 6.7% lower than August, due to decrease in gas demand for #powergeneration. Demand in networks increased to 614GWh(+24%YoY),similar to #industry (612GWh).

🔍This was bec of increased #emissions from #fossilgas plants. In 8 months, gas-fired plants set record in emissions (5.79 million tons) & average #carbonintensity was 255.5 g CO2/kWh. Without #RES #curtailments during this period (1,616 GWh), average carbon intensity would have been 234.8 g CO2/kWh.

🔌⚡ First 8 months of 2025 saw a record #electricityproduction from #gas (15,413 GWh) but also record net #exports (1,420 GWh). Gas & net exports saw largest changes in the first 8 months of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024.
