A recent photoshoot, which is a collaboration with Whidbey Island Distillery and The Joy of Cocktails. Each cocktail is a common cocktail, tweaked using Whidbey Distillery's rye whiskeys or berry liqueurs. Included here are a Sazerac, a Manhattan, a Negroni and a 50/50 Martini.
Just your basic Old Fashioned, made fancy with a 1960s era Culver Paisley rocks glass! Cheers 🍸

I’ve wondered this myself. The Jack Rose is a favorite, and I’ve subbed Apple Brandy for whiskey into just about every whiskey cocktail variation you can imagine and it’s awesome, it’s versatile and delicious. The only thing it’s not is a floor polish (old SNL skit reference).

I’m new to sipping whiskey and scotch neat, relatively speaking. I’m gradually developing a taste for it. And along the way discovered I like Irish Whiskey neat. I don’t have the Redbreast 12 yet, but was given a bottle of Powers over the weekend. Made a Tipperary with it. It was good!
It’s crazy, I know. I’m a history buff, a Poli Sci major, world traveler. The fact the USA is a rogue state along with Russia, North Korea and Iran is hard to comprehend. I have family members that were Fed employees. There will be a severe backlash, domestically, and I fear it will be ugly.
American here. I support your message. What’s happening is a travesty. The Old Fashioned is a template that the spirit can be swapped out for anything. It’s a good time to explore! My current fav is Mezcal, maple syrup and aromatic bitters. I’m going to personally expand my Irish Whiskey collection.

One of our favorites is the Jack Rose. Here's how we make it (my notebook lists Cocktail Codex as a source):
1.5 oz Laird 100 Apple Brandy
.5 Clear Creek Apple Brandy
.75 Lime Juice
.75 Grenadine
Garnish: paper thin slice of granny smith apple.
Vintage Glass: Bryce (1940s-50s)

I laughed out loud about the Peychaud's all over the counter! I went through the same thing. I was cleaner on my second try. I poured it on the back of a bar spoon, which was angled down, & the front edge of the spoon touched the inside of the glass. This spared the counter, and made a decent float.

To date, my only use of absinthe was spritzed into Sazeracs or Corpse Reviver 2s. The presentation I sat in on in Seattle really opened my eyes to new cocktail possibilities. Use #cocktailboost if you make this with your peach bitters and share it here.
It was good, but would be an acquired taste if you don’t like licorice, fennel, etc., the predominant flavors. I recently sat in on a lecture by Ted Breaux, who created Lucid, & who is credited with helping make absinthe sales legal again. It gave me a new appreciation for absinthe.
