Not that he was willing to accept such a fate, but it didn't have much choice. Only to hope it'd be spared.

Creating the offering and running so much had depleted much of its energy storage. It could only hope it'd appeased the other enough to make him leave him alone... but even if it hadn't, there wasn't much energy remnants left to feed him, anyways.

There would be no such risk of being consumed.

A god? The word's not familiar to his brain, that was already fading back to unconsciousness. There may have been some that would have called him one, but...

The thought is vanishing like steam, much like his Terran form, into a much more shapeless one. The strange glowing core from before.

heard the word ego, offhandedly. shrinking to the shadows.

An awful lot of all-consuming entities about. He's going to lay low, very low.

Glowing perhaps a little too brightly than he should -- attracting too much attention, for the amount of eyes around.

It's tiring, shifting between the new humanoid form, a pile of flesh, and a floating orb of energy. Nothing quite feels right, and all of them keep bringing unneeded attention while he's on his personal mission.

A predicament indeed...

than a basketball now, floating centimeters above his palms.

Take it or leave it, the offer was clear without a word spoken from him.

the desperation. He had no interest in offering himself up as the meal itself. He just .. had a bad feeling how that would turn out.

No, but he could offer this up instead. It was still made up of the same kind of matter he was, but separated from his body.

A miniature planet, just a bit larger

instead, clasped his hands together in front of his chest, as if cupping something between them. As light shone through his fingers, he would pull them apart to reveal a swirling, forming densely packed mass of matter.

Which he then offered up to the other.

He could sense his deafening hunger,

There was a notable delay from the Terran-shaped planet; whether that stemmed from his own weakened state due to no longer being whole, or the situation itself being difficult to comprehend in the first place, it was impossible to tell.

Instead of giving any kind of verbal acknowledgement, he

A humanoid being, but it wouldn't be the golden-skinned man familiar to him. No, just a regular Terran, wincing behind the makeshift shield of planetary matter.

If Terrans had glowing eyes and blue, pulsating veins running beneath their skin to match, that is.

it's mind. His mind.

A fluorescent mineral-like substance exploded from its core, a barrier that raced to impede the Magus's advancement... on its person.

It seemed the fear had jolted it enough that a flash of it's old, previous form was dragged out of the farthest most recesses of its mind.

If it wasn't fear it'd initially felt during their encounter, it definitely was now. It didn't detect his pursuit, so when he caught up to it, the sudden shift into cosmic darkness that enveloped it felt like a shock to it.

So much so, something akin to a memory, or perhaps a vision, shot through

Local pile of organs on the move. Inching around. Leaving a snail trail of .. probably don't think about it.

Seeing as no further attempt to consume seemed to be acted on, the mass shrunk back down. Instead, moving to slither away down the alley, the confrontation appearing settled in its feeble consciousness.

Better to conserve energy and find a better spot to recover.

conscious enough to be aware of such a tactic?

Hard to say.
thelivingplanet.bsky.social
So it wasn't going to leave. It didn't recognize the curiosity as being just that - any attempt at contact was taken as a threat.

Still glowing brightly, the mass shifted, churned, an indescribable shape that grew larger and larger before the other being. An act of intimidation, perhaps? Was it -

It may have had the original intent of destroying itself, but not like this. Not in this manner, to feed another malicious entity.

A blinding light surged from its core, expelling overwhelming energy that engulfed the area. A warning to back off, lest it did more to defend itself.
