WOLF MAN (2025) - werewolf movie with a somewhat ham-fisted subtext about parenting and breaking intergenerational cycles. Set in Oregon (I always love that) and starring Marnie’s BF from Girls. Not bad

It’s not just a TV show or movie to me, it’s like Paradise Lost, which Milton described as being dictated to him by god and he spoke it in real time and his daughters transcribed it. That’s how close I feel Twin Peaks is to the source, every second of it

The other iterations of Twin Peaks did not make things this simple, but I think it was cool how he was able to tie it up for the feature film without really losing anything

I re-watched FIRE, WALK WITH ME and found it to contain a straight-forward explanation, a closed case. Something so evil that we cannot comprehend it - a decade of incestual sexual abuse culminating in murder - has a very concrete cause. There are beings out there that feed on it. It's so simple

BREATH IN - aggressively slow and dark semi-vampire monster narcissistic mother movie set in South Africa during the Boer War. Very much my kinda thing, but not the best execution. Pretty good

I listen to a lot of mainstream/drill/trap hip-hop and there is oblique, totally detached if any references to politics, every album cover is made by AI, and stuff is only ever released to streaming, no thought to the ethics. The nihilism is comforting
