![here we are again: entering a government shutdown spurred by Republicans who are throwing a fit because Democrats won’t allow them to gut our health care and abortion access (again).
We don’t think it’s too much to ask that we have a functioning government and health care access. Sign if you agree.

Government shutdowns happen when Congress and the President fail to pass legislation that sets the budget for the government’s next fiscal year. Republicans control the White House and both chambers of Congress. They are the ones with the power, so this is their shutdown.
So what’s the GOP’s hang-up? In a nutshell, Democrats are trying to make sure that the budget restores health care access and protects healthcare coverage for tens of millions of Americans. Republicans are trying to stop that from happening. They don’t care whether people go without healthcare coverage–we fought for the Affordable Care Act (ACA), so we know.
