"The day the paper was published should have been a moment of pride. Instead, it felt like a quiet erasure."👇

This article is a story of how a researcher contributed meaningfully to a study, only to find themself excluded from authorship when the paper was published.

⭐ Remember that rejection is part of the process, not a verdict on your ability.
Papers get rejected for all kinds of reasons.
It doesn’t mean your work is worthless or that you’re not cut out for research.

I hope this helps.
Btw...

⭐ Look for what you can use, not just what hurts.
Even tough reviews often contain something useful.
Find the actionable bits and set the rest aside.
thestrugglings4.bsky.social
But over time, I learned how to deal with it a little better each round.

⭐ Take a breather before reading the reviewer comments.
Give yourself a bit of space.
Reading criticism while still emotional makes it harder to be objective.

One of the toughest emails I got during my PhD wasn’t about funding or experiments. It was the first rejection of my academic paper.

I had spent months writing and revising it, only to get it returned with what felt like harsh and dismissive feedback.
It sucked.
