THREAD 1/8 - These articles are for anyone interested in the BBC and the television landscape of the 1980s.
40 years ago, on 23rd Oct 1984, a revamped and reformatted BBC2 series was transmitted. No longer ‘Old’, no longer ‘Grey’ - this is the story of the final years of Whistle Test.

It's on the season 22 page, but it doesn't matter - it's just great to discover these things! Very much enjoying your work, Paul. 💯

It was indeed! And, after 'Trial' it becomes Servalan's main chair for the rest of the series. It also makes an appearance (or three) in Moonbase Three. 👍

I decided to revisit an old post. New material, new things to discover, and new contexts.

One of Plymouth's finest.
Beryl Cook was also one of its frequent patrons.

Great stuff as always. Just a thought, could the panel seen in the Marshall’s module not be smaller, but possibly the same panel. It might continue underneath the horizontal panel, but it is obscured? 🤷

Thats a good statement to unpick! I’d need another 10000 words…probably 😂
Thanks again Andrew. 👍

Greatful for the help, Paul. Trying to find who did which production text is harder than I thought!

Cheers Gary, glad I got through it.

And thank you for reading it. 👍

Interesting. Yet Williams’ background was so rooted in scripting.
I felt that he didn’t lose ambition in the writing, but technical innovation had to be ramped up to counter the financial restrictions.
