We can sit in our nursery homes and complain that there are no one who comes to change our diapers. Our AI-controlled social media feed will completely agree with us and tell us how fantastic we are.
Remember, up to 25% of the Swedish population migrated to USA pre WWI, Sweden was considered a failed state.
2025 numbers already down from earlier.

Populist anti-immigration politicians are still chasing the immigrant scare, latest fad is "remigration", to increase the one time pay to people who voluntarily leave Sweden.
Our kids' school will close by end of this school year. Combination of fewer kids and not finding better premises to continue the school. Our kids like the school so a bit sad but we will deal with it.

However, it triggered me digging into the population projection for Sweden:
Follow up on yesterday's playtest + school meeting. Just had a good long walk with the dog.
First game of Pompeii completed, fresh from SPIEL. The inventory boards make handling the many different resource types a bliss. Will play again! Congrats to Richard for keeping the eyes on the ball and beating us across the finish line!
Pompeii. Straight from Essen Spiel! #BoardGames
"What are we going to do with this one, Frank?"
"Now that you've called me by name?"
Play Pompeii at a friend's place...

No VP. It's a race. One player wins by buying an army and placing it in the camp outside the city.

First part will feel like a tableaux builder. Drafting and buying specialists to help you get ahead. No direct PvP.

In the second part punishment will be brutal, perhaps even random. Oh Fortuna!

Offerings: You get a target number for resources that the group must sacrifice. Then you negotiate openly until the group either pays the needed amount or cannot or will not. When you fail you turn over a volcano card which is either a resource penalty that hits all -- or an eruption.

Second part of the game starts when one player builds Foro Pompeii. This opens the game for luxury goods and city cards. City cards boosts advanced buildings plus some backstabery stuff.

Also, here you start doing offerings to appease the gods at the end of each round.

It's not so complicated, the base game action is that you place a worker and either take or upgrade a resource. Then you can hire specialists that will do base actions better. Plus construct buildings that opens new transformations.

Spooky season as seen in Recklinghausen, Germany. Are you in the mood yet?
Botkyrka is rainy too. Dog still want to go out. After that:

Unbox and study how to play Pompeii.
You will return and be stronger, I'm sure.

It is extremely unlikely to by chance to run into a specific person at SPIEL, but with a wide enough network, chances of stumbling over someone you know by chance increases. I met Jacob Jaskov!
Sir, this is a first class selfie from a professional social media celebrity!
