If they wanna try it, sure. Worse that happens is people have another Alien movie they can subjectively ignore. If Weaver is happy with it, I'll give it a shot too.

Wow print edition major sucks for that difference. I guess truth is subjective to the print editor.

A short story of choice in four frames.

1) Oh, no. A temptation.
2) Do I dare?
3) Not today, Progress Satan.
4) Lookit my shadow!

Nate stands at the edge of a broken overlook. The overlook has haphazardly aligned wooden boards for a floor and very skimpy thin metal pipes for guardrails along its edge at waist height. But the corner of the overlook directly ahead of Nate has missing guardrails, creating an open edge Nate could easily step over and fall. Nate was placed here after a cutscene in which another character contemplated falling because they would not be hurt in the video game world, but they would have to walk all the way back to this spot. It is implied Nate is also thinking about it, but the other character decides not to and walks away. Nate still wears his onesie and a knitted grey donkey hat that looks like a donkey head. We see the view of what's over the ledge of the lookout ahead of Nate. Nate and the view are seen from above. Down below is mostly a light blue haze that blocks a lot of details, but through the haze at the middle of the screen we can see two cliff edges disappearing into a hole further below. Two of the cliffedges nearly touch, looking like a thin strip of rock that formed a walkway but lost part of the middle of the bridge. Nate is seen from behind walking away from the edge on the wooden lookout. He walks toward a stable rock bed ahead. Thin metal railings are on either side as Naye walks in the middle with enough room to fall without falling over the edge. Nate still wears his grey knitted donkey hat. The back of his onesie is completely muddy with only the sides of his torso and legs appearing slightly clean. He is barefoot. Nate is seen from behind walking over a sand dune. Ahead of him is a dip in the dunes and another rising sand dune. Nate's shadow is cast on the side of the rising dune up ahead, it looks like a dark outline of his body in the same pose. The shadow is cast by the sun which lights Nate's back and lower body. He still wears the donkey hat and his back is still muddy. Farther in the distance we can see some palm trees around what looks to be water from a blue lake or oasis. Light blue fog starts to cover everything in the distance.

Spent some time at this chill spot for a vibe with the soundtrack.

The character Nate from the video game 'Baby Steps' is seen from behind, wearing a knitted donkey hat. In front of him is the sun toward the bottom left of the screen and Nate, the sun drifts toward the horizon behind some blue clouds and looks pink. To Nate's right, on top of a rocky cliff, is a street lamp with bugs flying around it. Small black bugs fly all around the screen. The sky is light blue and purple ahead of Nate. Nate stands in the same position but is seen from the front with rocky cliffs behind him and a broken cobble stone path leading to Nate's right (screen left). The front of Nate's onesie is soiled with brown mud showing where he has fallen and slid. Nate has a bit of a somber look on his face. The donkey hat is grey with floppy ears, red button eyes, and a tuff of black hair. The monkey's snout is white or light grey. Nate is a 30 year old white male with brown hair and beard, he wears wire frame glasses. Nate in the same position but seen from above. Nate's back faces the bottom of the screen. The donkey hat is closest to the camera as we seen Nate's body fill much of the lower screen. Ahead of Nate, filling the upper screen, a ledge a step away leads to a puffy slope that glistens slick in the setting sun. It looks slipper and steep, heading down.

I have not used Plex in a while. I started it up and saw this. I have no idea what this means. What has changed? Why is marketing writing the release notes? Just tell me what you changed like I'm a human, please. I just want to watch trashy movies.

A photo of Plex's update screen on a television. The background is a gradient from the upper left corner in blue and the lower right in purple. In the center of the screen are two lines of white text, an image underneath, five blue dots beneath that image showing what number screen you are on, and a white "continue" button that says continue but you can't see the text in the image because of the photo quality and the white is too bright. The middle image is another photo of the new interface with a "Favorites" window selected. The favorites window shows a menu bar at the top where favorites is selected, the title of the selected movie, an image from the movie to the right, a description under the title of the left, followed by a line of movie and TV show box art at the bottom. The movie "Halloween" and the TV show "Mad Men" are among seven. "Out of the Furnace" is the movie selected. The image at the center of the UI has another small icon over it on its top left corner. Only the "Continue" button is selectable, you cannot click the center image to get more details on what has changed.

"Low energy" is a very ironic phrase given Trump's own public naps.

I imagine because of the nature of social media these videos rely on people quickly scrolling past them. Media literacy is sadly very lacking as well, especially for both younger and elder folks.

I wish we had viewed the initial (and ongoing) disinformation campaigns as a more serious threat to bring to the attention of the general population as well. I think historically it will be viewed as one of the greatest successful psyops in a cyberwar. The damage is already monumental and ongoing.

Not directed by him, but I just watched Mikey and Nicky the other day and it's worth adding to your list. Peter Falk is a nice bonus.

Ending spoilers:

It was really bizarre to me that they spend the whole game giving these characters depth then at the end they're like, "Nah, just erase them & move on." I at first chose Maelle's ending & thought it pretty terrible, tho Verso's was no better. Whole thing felt misogynistic to me.

It's on my Kanopy list! Will boost it and watch soon. Seems like such a wild weird ride.

Important note: they also crashed into another vehicle, ripping off its bumper, while fleeing the scene of the accident in their rented van. The agents should be arrested for multiple violations here.

We are so passively aggressive that our aggression is impossible to detect.

Would love it if a journalist actually tried to answer the question of why trans women in sports became such a focus. Not like the mental reason, but who first started publishing the stories and who pushed them to do so. Follow the money, so to speak. More investigating of such "journalism."

Please don't be (though obviously the choice is up to you). This is a *striking* use of color. Play on!

Trump has always basically been a "human" LLM, taking the work of others and slapping his name on it.

Yeah, the admin is lying bitches and every news organization reporting on Portland should have a reporter showing live video of the city whenever a story comes up. Show your reporters going to brunch, vintage stores, drinking kombucha, eating ice cream, walking in the park. The city is fine.

This is literally the plot of 'You've Got Mail' but with "mechanic shop" instead of "book shop."

I will not be watching it.

Photo of the description for the movie 'Maintenance Required' which reads: "Charlie, the fiercely independent owner of an all-female mechanic shop, is forced to reevaluate her future when a flashy corporate competitor moves in across the street. Seeking comfort, she turns to an anonymous online confidant - unaware she's confiding in Beau, the very rival threatening her business. As sparks fly both online and off, the truth threatens to blow everything apart." It is tagged as a comedy and a romance. 103 minutes, from 2025, pg-13. The title of the movie is a red logo with a wrench shaped icon replacing the "i" in "maintenance." Behind the description is an out of focus image presumably from the movie which seems to be a neon sign with unreadable white lettering and green and orange colors surrounded by a white neon oval. The Amazon Prime logo is in the top left corner above the title logo. Green text says the movie is #3 in the US.

Napster in shambles watching this era.

Holy hell. When the diagram breakdown is longer than some short stories, it's a problem.

I'll believe it when it happens. Not playing Charlie Brown and Lucy football games.
