yeah and i should clarify that i have no issues with someone taking a stance in a writeup, i just also want facts so i can decide if i agree with that interpretation or not

C&C music factory explored this space too

you're speaking to my heart Laurens

exactly but it doesn't steal your actual money 🤑

oh no doubt, it's so beneficial to atproto that i've caught myself wondering more than once if this was all intentional

i don't think it was but sometimes the messy course of history works on our favor
timburga.com
i blame happy hour for me taking the scenic route to catch up with you
timburga.com
nope, no discourse here
timburga.com
absolutely
we all had different formative experiences that shape how we view the world
as long as it's rooted in good faith and not hate i think that's okay
timburga.com
it does seem to boil down to whether or not your expectation is that you can block human trash vs. the platform should remove them entirely, and I don't think there will ever be consensus on that
timburga.com
i disagree but i understand where you're coming from

i think there's value in seeing the original posts laid out to speak for themselves without any outside interpretation
timburga.com
exactly, and that's why I don't think a subjective rule can be used to justify a permaban

it was a bad call and the fact that it hasn't been reversed reflects poorly on bsky, which pains me to say
timburga.com
all of this is truth

brigading sucks
stirring the pot sucks
death threats suck

i saw link's post and it seemed to me at the time that there were reasonable interpretations that weren't a death threat
timburga.com
i appreciate the link but it's already pretty biased in the headline

not that i disagree but i really just want a neutral recounting of what went down
timburga.com
i think it's healthy for the community to have a chill discussion around this so please keep it civil and be understanding of differing opinions and don't make assumptions about beliefs or motives
timburga.com
imo this is where any chance for rational discussion about the original issue was lost because it cemented the "mods bad" narrative

link absolutely should not have been permabanned and it had lasting consequences
timburga.com
my impression is it started as jay finally losing it over that small but vocal segment of the trans community that brigades every official post with demands to ban a dirtbag transphobe who hasn't violated bsky t&c

there was a death threat involved too but i'm not clear on timing
timburga.com
can't say i blame him either

the whole spectacle has been extremely dumb on all sides and by the looks of recent posta absolutely nothing has been learned or gained
timburga.com
has anyone done a non-opinionated factual writeup of the Discourse that has consumed our fair webbed site over the last week?

i checked out of it after engaging for a day and it seems like it's getting muddied with other issues so i just want to make sure i understand where it's gone

in the context of atproto MSTs are really more about being able to easily verify the authenticity of records

since each record is a hash of itself and the hash of the previous records, any alteration in the chain will cause a different hash to be generated

i just hope they have protections in place to prevent @tangled.org from moving its documentation to @leaflet.pub and causing a recursion that reboots the universe
leaflet.pub
It's true we are now on @tangled.org, please like and subscribe! By which we mean: *star* and *follow*!

FYI very soon we'll be cleaning up the README, adding better documentation for contributors, and tagging some issues as `good-first-issue` for Tangled's October open source challenge :)

I can't even explain why I like @leaflet.pub so much but I really do, and now it's open source (on an open source open sourcing tool) and man that is cool
