This is a repository for the old @drosophilosophy Twitter account. Nothing new will come from here, but it's a way to remember the simpler times - when people were kinder, GIFs were top game, and we all knew the dangers of poison ivy, hiking, and pooping.

not gonna lie to you, pittsburgh. i'm digging your sights. the disco bridge confuses me a bit, though. #abrcmsrunning
as a little primer for @beverly_piggott's seminar visit next week, mosca lab grad student ben seitz is taking us on a tour through seminal work involving ion channels and neural progenitor cells!!
i'm not saying i always believe in metaphors, but not even 5 days out and the grass in front of Independence hall is already dead.
well ... that was not the best tuesday ever. be gentle with each other this week, folks. i think we all need it.
voting early by mail means no sticker, but no less heartfelt wishes for democracy in action. don't forget to get out there and vote today!!!
is anyone going to @ABRCMS next week? i just found out that i'm attending! who wants to chat science, DEI, and hopefully surviving the impending apocalypse?!
people these days. they just don't respect starfleet anymore. look at this ... throwing out the prime directive as if it were trash! #cityrunner
an outside taco bar on a Friday night in philly ... in november? i know it's a bad sign, but i'll take it. rosy knows best.
once again, the sights of my run remind me to dwell on the great experiment that is america. the great experiment that is the republic. and I hope we make the right decision next week. #cityrunner #Vote
ARGH! only one student out of 30 got the tswift theme of my genetics exam question. i mean, COME ON! the clues were there! fun fact: all of the male numbers are swift relevant too (since those are the ones you use to solve the problem). :) WHO IS TEACHING THE KIDS THESE DAYS?!?!
there's a lot of bad in the world right now. but the efforts of the @RCSA1 and all the scialog folks and the friends they keep ... that's a good slice. a real good slice. and it was my honor to be a part of that.
plus, i had the unmitigated delight of meeting jordan theriault @j_theriault, chris krupenye @ChrisKrupenye, and deb kahrson @drdebah who are just fantastic humans. AND i got to write a couple grants with them and watch how these incredible minds think. maybe i study humans now?!
the last molecular basis of cognition scialog this past weekend in tucson was marvelous. a great chance to think deeply about cognition for a few days in beautiful scenery and have conversations i could never have otherwise. oh, and there was a pool. :)
there are definitely worse places to write two grants in 12 hours.
amazing discussions here at scialog. but i gotta say, the running is a lot of fun too. :) except for that part where i'm 2600 feet higher than i'm used to. that is not as awesome.
great discussions here at @RCSA1 scialog and it's tough to beat the view! bridging many different schools of thought regarding molecular measurements and cognition.
really excited to be back in Tucson for the 3rd @RCSA1 scialog molecular basis of cognition meeting! can't wait to see what new ideas come out of this amazing group of folks!
the two things i need on this run: gorgeous mountain vistas and an urgent care. #arizonarunner #fuckitshot
tucson, i am in you! let's talk some science!!
i am always glad to explain, of course, but there is a certain lunacy to when funding agencies scold me for not submitting a vertebrate statement. flies, at last look, were not vertebrates. though if there's been a system update, i'd be keen on learning!
because OF COURSE your lab fridge where all the experiments, antibodies, and slides are dies at 448 pm on a friday afternoon. OF COURSE IT DOES.
it's always a blast to teach GC550 every year and introduce a new crop of students to three point crosses ... in a way they actually can make sense of! math doesn't have to be annoying. :)
