And i also think it is a logical evolution in our kind of society:

Having entertainment, and by extension have thinking done for you, is easier that actually engaging with reality (online or not) and making judgment calls

A similar prob i always notice with the random Libertarian i sometimes encounter:
They never realize all the work that is being done to maintain their baseline wellbeing and safety

I suspect the current regime has a lot of the same mindset
