I used to do these when I was on Twitter... ..but all I can say is...

...film threads are BACK!!

And just in time for 2025, too. The few 2024 films that I will be catching up with on the big screen will be on there as well.

Tron: Ares:

Even with the baggage it has and a weak story, Tron: Ares still keeps many of what the previous two Tron films memorable... ...especially with it's very slick visuals and an incredible score from Nine Inch Nails. It's especially a must in IMAX 3D.

Roofman:

While Roofman is as sad as the actual real live event that inspired it, thanks to it's terrific performances, brisk pacing, and a very meaningful message, it really becomes a strong and harrowing film that also shows just how much criminals try hard not to do what they do.

Yup. That is indeed the one.

Putting David out on the same day as Fire and Ash and Search for SquarePants is typical of the decisions that Angel makes.

Oh, yeah, they somehow got it back after losing the rights to it last year and having a big lawsuit... ...there's a giant loophole.
tlmylm2002.bsky.social
Everything about it already sounds super promising. I am already in.

The Smashing Machine:

The Smashing Machine may do nothing too out of the ordinary in terms of sports films and isn't for anyone, but thanks to it's tensity and a truly dynamite performance from Johnson, it really ends up being a knockout and a very harrowing film.

One Battle After Another(continued):

...let up and hold your hand. It's also goregous to look at and has some of the best uses of music in any film this year. Why, Anderson, you and your team know how to do something good. This was a masterpiece!

One Battle After Another:

One Battle After Another is very bleak and really has a harsh depiction of what we are going through right now... ...and as a film, really cannot be any better. It goes by very fast despite it's 172 minute runtime, has incredible performances, and does not...
tlmylm2002.bsky.social
It comes out in literally a few weeks and there is still no trailer or ANY piece of marketing for it.

Netflix may be Netflix, but even for their standards, I am questioning what's going on here.

Haven't had cable for 12 years... ...so I am all set already.

A Big Bold Beautiful Journey:

A Big Bold Beautiful Journey may be too fast for its own good and doesn't reach its full potential, but it's terrific cast, fantastic cinematography and production design, and a splendid score by the master Hisaishi made me have a passable time with it.

Him:

Him has a fantastic premise and does have some cool effects and scares and a cast who does do a good job, but it sadly does next to nothing with them and not only is just so dull, but also goes completely nowhere as well. What a big disappointment.

Both Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert don't deserve what they are going throught right now.

A sad example of what has been going on throughout this year.

It was 3 months earlier than expected, but....

Won't set it up till Tuesday, though.

I can understand why it has been an acquired taste for some people, but I enjoyed Helluva Boss.

Some of the jokes are great, I REALLY love the designs and animation, and even if they are absolutely HORRIBLE personality wise, the characters are a lot of fun.

Now I need to see some Hazbin...

A little fun fact... ...Genndy indirectly mentions Mat in the Q&A.

He said that there was a screening of the film he hosted in Montreal, and he said that there was a reviewer from there who thought the film "wasn't funny". I get the feeling that's who he was referring to? But yeah, I agree.
