platforms would own their user generated content if they could get away with it (see roblox child labor) but part of why media platforms don’t do it is because being legally liable for all the shit users generate on their sites is a pretty bad idea

AI companies are counting on the idea that they are not republishing under a new license, but then that means no AI-assisted work can be copyrighted or else open pandora’s box of legal issues

it is not an understatement that most people have no idea how copyright licenses actually work. least of which modification and reuse. i do forget that because I was forced to learn it for work
