I've decided the powdered sugar donut is like the hot boyfriend/girlfriend that ends up being excessively high maintenance. Sure, looks incredible and tastes great, but you can't eat it without getting sugar residue around your mouth. Sugar on your dark clothes? White splotches guaranteed.

1) This won't end well and...
2) It will be a COMPLETE surprise when it ends

As a child of the Cold War, I knew this joke. Versions of it made the rounds in the US in the 80s and was a sly wink towards the foibles of an authoritarian power structure combined with a need to never be wrong.

It's August and that means the a local grocery store is making roasted chilis. I used to grow my own and roast them for my green chili salsa, but it is so worth the few bucks to let somebody else do it. I just love to stand there for a bit and soak up the aroma. Mmmm.

This parallels what GWB did in the run up to the invasion of Iraq. Any intelligence agency person who told him Iraq didn't have substantial WMDs got fired. Anybody who did got promoted. He altered 'reality' through hiring and firing. Same thing here. Never ends well.

I just found a cottage cheese in the fridge with an expiration of 10/14/24. I didn't open it, but you could see through the sides that it had multiple dark colors in there. I sealed it in another trash bag and took it directly to the curb.

This picture brings me joy. It may not look like much to you, but this is the feed line I hit when trenching for a new sprinkler head. I had about 25 feet to go in roots and clay and hit this after about 5 feet. I can now tap in here. Made my whole week. May you hit unexpected joy this week as well.

Don't for a moment call her "crazy." There's MAGA logic at work here. It is far easier to jail scientists and democrats for "weather manipulation murder" than it is to admit 47 destaffing NOAA's weather prediction capabilities killed 'em. I expect more of this as people die from the gov cuts.

Is this the basis of the Democratic ad campaign for 2026? Not really kidding. Kill the purity politics and the policy nerdery the MSM gets so bored with. Make the choice stark. (I know there is no simple path here. I just get tired of the focus group driven milquetoast "offend nobody" crap.)

I live like a broke college student in most aspects of life. (I drive a 26 year old Suburban) Footwear's an exception. I just got my 3rd pair of Olukai Moloa shoes. Design unchanged for 20+ years and the most comfortable shoe ever. You can fold the back down and wear as slip-ons too. Made in Hawaii
