では、なぜ多くの悪魔の名前が中世に一般化したのか？

１５世紀以前のヨーロッパでは
紙は存在しましたが全く一般的ではありません
多くは動物の皮でできた羊皮紙
または木の皮から作ったパピルスでしたが
これを使って読み書きができたのは
キリスト教の聖職者か一部の貴族だけです

それが１５世紀以降に紙が一般化していき
印刷技術も向上していき、ヨーロッパの識字率が上がっていきます。
それにともなって多くの創作物が作られ
一般化していったということです

ちなみに
それ以前に魔術書などがあれば
キリスト教会がほぼ独占であり
魔術を試した教会関係者が罰せられた話などがありますｗ

よく知られたことなんですが
旧約聖書イザヤ書14章12節
５世紀のキリスト教会が「ルシファー」を悪魔と誤訳した
ヘブライ語の呼びは「ヘレル」なんですけど
これはバビロニア王を指しています☝️

しかし
ルシファーは一般的ではなかったし誤訳という指摘もありましたが

中世
ダンテ・アリギエーリ『神曲』
ジョン・ミルトン『失楽園』
ヨースト・ファン・デン・フォンデル『ルシファー』
これらの文学作品により
『ルシファーは悪魔』と決定的に印象付けられました

実は、この様に中世に創造されたり一般化した悪魔は多いです

なぜなら
多くの悪魔や魔術に関する書籍は１４・１５世紀以降のものであり
それ以前に遡れません

例えば多くの派生書籍を生んだ『ソロモンの鍵』という魔術書
ユダヤ教カバラ、アラビア錬金術、ギリシャローマ魔術が混ざっており
魔術を使ったという伝承のあるソロモン王とは
関係ない事が分かります

ユダヤ教口伝伝承集の異教の神々が
後に悪魔として捉え直されていきましたが
これは中世以前では非主流であり一般的ではありません。

デビルの語源
サタン（敵対者）のギリシャ語ディアボロス（Diabolus）と
善悪のない超自然的な存在（信仰）ダイモーン（daimon）
これが後にデビルに…（Devil）
