Sonic was always a action platformer, the first game was kind of experimental and the stages were not equally good, and why 2 cemented the series onward is because it was designed more around the "ability to go fast" the better you learned the stages the better you could be at going fast, imo.

Whoa, see there's no possibility a pokemon game will ever have a ten year dev cycle because the next Gen absolutely has to release in the next four years at most. The games are the vehicle for the next wave of anime and merch, Digimon thankfully doesn't have that limitation

It's just a shame Gamefreak doesn't know how to do this. All the mass media profit doesn't matter if your developers have no experience because they've been making the same type of game for 30 yrs.
Though this is probably where that other Gamefreak game came from too the cool samurai one.

It's not great overall, doesn't hold up on any level, really early weird looking PS2 graphics etc. But genuinely the most cringe plot twist ive ever seen.
