There is nothing inherently wrong with doing something good in your private life; it can create the platform to do good for others. Consigning yourself to suffer doesn't help other suffering people, and as humans we need to do good for ourselves to avoid burnout and remember what we fight for.

Don't think about it in terms of "deserve". There is not a great accountant in the sky who is going to censure you for trying to move beyond mere necessity. I know that "just think different" isn't so straightforward, and I struggle with these kinds of thoughts too.
