You can occasionally find copies of ‘Come, Come…’ on the secondary market going for hundreds of dollars, but to my knowledge I have never been a tym godek comic offered in those channels at *any* price. Rare media indeed! 😂

John Darnielle, I will trade you one (1) copy of my latest self released comic, Today is never Right Now, for one (1) copy of your self-released bootleg, Come Come to the Sunset Tree.

I’ll even throw in a copy of the older comic, of which this is a continuation/extrapolation, think something similar to the relationship between All Hail West Texas and…

Fair trade, in rare physical media.

Yep.

And if anyone has a copy of Come, Come to the Sunset Tree that they’re looking to upload for cheap, I’m open. 🤣

Years after @nvonflue.bsky.social’s recommendation, years after checking the cd out from the library and dubbing it on cassette, after years of deeply internalizing the record, I’ve now legally purchased a copy of the Mountain Goats’ the Sunset Tree, and thus - at long last - closed the open circle.

You actually had a hand in shaping what this became, whether you know it or not.

Should have done a pull quote 🤣

Yeah! Promotion!

since it's the 2023 collection of @tymgodek.bsky.social's annually published 30 days diary comic, here come my 30 cents from that year's tcj best of
As every other year, Tym Godek did a gorgeously haunting 30 days of comics on his Tumblr, which might sing to some. Cover to Today is never Right Now by Tymothi Godek, depicted is the abstraction of blue hair on a yellow head

It’s been known to tip the scales to purchase for me many times.

Domino books has always been fantastic! One of the undersung features of his site is the text that Austin attaches to every listing. More than marketing copy, it’s sometimes contextualization and oftentimes personal observations on the work. Love seeing it.

Did I tell you I have a new book out? Probably not, I am bad at promotion, but happy to have my latest printed comic available now at @dominocomics.bsky.social web shop.

Cleaned up the stacks and got everything on shelves. Discovered some more I haven’t read. 104 so far…

And if I’m wrong and it was created as such - by an artist with intent - then my hat is off to the artist.
tymgodek.bsky.social
I would like to make images this readable and yet confused, or I would like this image to have been made with the purpose of being confusing.
tymgodek.bsky.social
(And it’s likely the image does not adequately satisfy any intent behind the prompt in this case anyway. Again, it’s hard to judge sans context)
tymgodek.bsky.social
If it truly is ai - like I suspect - then there was never any actual “intent” behind the generation of the image. (While I do believe there may be an “art” to prompting ai generation, I do not believe that the prompt is the “Art.”)
tymgodek.bsky.social
But I imagine what I like about it runs counter to the original intent. (Tho it’s tough to judge that without more context)
tymgodek.bsky.social
But the use is defined by the intent. I might love it if it was intentionally created. A lot of my own cartooning strives for such an effect (or affect)
tymgodek.bsky.social
That is, while I do not think it was made the way it is (prompted?) with intent, I see a usefulness to its “wrongness”

This image confuses in a way so pleasantly (to me) that I wish it was not accidental slop.

Another reminder that graphics are decomposible… I assume this was created by AI because the top implies the girl walks forward but the legs and feet suggest waking away. Each part is well-formed but the whole is odd
Graphic of a girl walking where the top half implies she moves forward but the bottom half implies she moves away

What’s with this new (to me) concept of “too many nachos”?!?
