There was an odd lack of crickets on our block last summer. Usually we hear them all night, and there's always one that seems to live somewhere in our front porch that's particularly loud, but this year it was silent.
There were crickets a couple blocks over to the north, though.

I think it has something to do with the smooth texture of the blanket, but I can't be sure. It's possible that I feel better wearing a sweater for similar reasons.

It's the darndest thing- during the summer when it's too warm to sleep with a blanket, I can't lie on my side without putting a pillow between my knees, and my legs tend to tense up.
But as soon as it's cool enough to use the blanket, my spine and pelvis align, and my whole body relaxes.

It also helps that I can actually SEE stuff- I have sensitive eyes and bright sunlight hurts them, so I have to wear sunglasses almost every time I leave the house... so overcast skies are a welcome relief.

Mostly I'm talking about how Day of the Dead stuff like decorations and packaging has jack-o'-lanterns and candy mixed into it, or otherwise generic skeletons have colorful patterns on them.
Even my Disney calendar has a Coco theme this month, with Miguel standing next to a jack-o'-lantern.

What with all the irreversible changes to Disneyland, all the lame remakes, and the way they ignore classic characters, I wonder if that screening of A Goofy Movie at El Capitan I went to last year will be the last time I feel that old "Disney feeling" ever again.

I always found it super clever how Super Mario Advance's opening would start out with these dark frames around the screen,
to illustrate how much the #GBA screen size and resolution had increased from the original #Gameboy & #GBC

It was a cool way to convey it!
