Yooka-Replaylee is a substantial step up. I don't know if it's as good as Impossible Lair, but it finds all the fun the original dropped the ball on with its jankier aspects. No stamina loss when rolling alone makes the game twice as enjoyable.

The addition of a shit-for-brains zoner has piqued my interest in 2XKO. Even better that it’s Teemo

I wrote 12 stories for PCGS this time (yowza!) but the newest preview for Awaysis hit me right in my soul. Brings me back to the co-optional days of Trine and Magicka, though it's very much its own thing. Super psyched to see how it turns out!
I'm convinced dungeon crawlers have always needed skiing physics after Awaysis' newest trailer
Somewhere between classic Zelda and Human Fall Flat, you'll find self-billed "dungeon brawler" Awaysis.

No I haven’t played X current-year game that looks amazing. I have not finished DW: Origins yet. I am trying to finish Dreamcast games I started in 2022. I’m installing mods I will play exactly once. I need to get out of Arcanist V in Deadlock. I will start Baby Steps in 2085 and finish it in hell

No need to dogpile I guess but game remakes and remasters need to be held to higher standard when it comes to lighting and color choices if we’re gonna keep doing this. MGS3 remake and this Deus Ex thing are just bar-settingly abysmal in that regard

Play Soulbound, it's utterly fantastic! Even if you're an anti-Sigmar guy, it's such a good system for high-powered fantasy campaigns with narrative goals on a huge scale

I have noticed a lot of the RTS I gravitate toward (Dawn of War, BFME2, Empire At War, Total Warhammer etc.) are licensed. It’s funny to imagine someone in 2025 being like “I need to market my movie. I think I’ll have someone make a real-time strategy game for the personal computer”

"One Limp Bizkit song is a bold, colorful choice. Two Limp Bizkit songs is wild. Volatile. But three? Have you not already slaked your thirst, and then some, for the hot dog flavored water?"
However many nu metal songs you think are in Battlefield 6, I promise you there are more
A premature peek at the game's credits reveals someone at Battlefield Studios is jonesing for a fix of that Limp Bizkit mix.

And if you see this and think, 'it's crazy to make a pass like that with a lead and no rerolls,' consider that I would have been declared a coward if I didn't make the pass and therefore had no choice in the matter

I love when a comment on an article is something like 'I don't play this game and don't plan to.' Same vibe as a yelp review on a restaurant that just reads 'I didn't eat here. Gootbye'

Desmond segments in AC are the sacred price paid for the fun parts. They are the Boo levels from SMW for the modern parkour platformer. They are the pickle with your to-go sandwich and has become lukewarm after 30m wrapped up under a heat lamp. Throw out that pickle and your dignity goes with it

"It's a lot of action and energy for largely methodical, unhurried stealth games ... Ironside's performance had a venerable, benign sensibility to it; Liev Schreiber's performance sounds good, but it also sounds a lot more like the archetypal movie spy."
The new Splinter Cell: Deathwatch trailer is action-packed, but there's a Michael Ironside-shaped hole
Hey, at least the goggles make the sound.
