Actually half the BBC news programmes are not the most watched, further north you go the worse it get for the BBC. Border - ITV 14% ahead Anglia - ITV 9% ahead UTV - ITV 5% ahead, STV - STV 4% ahead, Granada - ITV 2% ahead and
Tyne Tees - ITV 1% ahead.

I think were heading towards ITV scrapping the 6pm programme and instead revising the local news to 10-12mins slot with ITV evening news. Maybe it could be pre-recorded at 6pm to provide a more local news, You could shut half the news rooms and get certain locations to record 3-4 local news.
