Their light and warmth continue within all they cared for.
May we continue to honor them through action,
and never forget to light their candle. 🌼
Join UNRWA USA in lighting a candle this Día de los Muertos to remember the UNRWA staff we have lost, those who saved countless lives and embodied the spirit of humanity.
Each soul was part of a community — many of them Palestine refugees themselves — defined by love, sumud (steadfastness), and an unshakable commitment to human dignity amid unimaginable loss.
We also remember the Palestinian journalists whose courage became their final headline — the storytellers who wrote until the silence took them. May their words live on where their voices were silenced.
🕯️ In every culture, we honor those who’ve left too soon.
On Día de los Muertos, we remember the more than 380 UNRWA humanitarian workers who were killed while carrying out their duty in Gaza since October 2023.
While many kids here in the US trick-or-treat, families in Gaza are collecting the pieces of their lives. Don't leave the kids of Gaza empty-handed.

But the Israeli military’s blockade of UNRWA aid trucks is stopping enough life-saving aid from entering. 6,000 UNRWA trucks worth of food — enough to feed 1 million people for four weeks — remain blocked.
UNRWA is still in Gaza, working every day to save lives — running health clinics, offering trauma counseling, maintaining water wells, and providing sanitation so families can live more safely and with dignity.
While some will dress up in fake blood and skeletons tonight, families in Gaza are living a real nightmare — homes destroyed, children traumatized, entire worlds lost.
Halloween’s horrors are pretend. Gaza’s are not. And unlike the movies, the horror in Gaza doesn’t end when we turn off the TV.
📣 Call your reps. Demand they pressure Israel to lift the blockade. Let UNRWA work. End the man-made famine.
UNRWA could feed over 1 million people in Gaza for weeks. If only it were allowed to.

This isn’t a failure of capacity.
It’s a denial of access — and of humanity.
UNRWA is the only organization in Gaza with the infrastructure, trust, and scale to deliver aid safely and effectively.
But no new food, medicine, or shelter supplies are getting through — even as famine spreads and disease takes hold.
UNRWA is still in Gaza.
Its 12,000 staff never left.
Every day they’re:
💧 running health clinics
🏠 providing clean water and sanitation
🧒 counseling children
📚 helping kids get back to learning
And today, it’s happening again.
In Gaza, food exists, just outside its borders.
But the Israeli military is blocking UNRWA, Gaza’s humanitarian backbone, from bringing it in.
Dublin’s Famine Memorial stands in memory of Ireland’s Great Hunger — a time when food existed, yet millions starved because access was denied. Because of who they were.
A haunting reminder: famine is never just about scarcity.
It’s about power.
It’s man-made.
🌍👀 The world is watching. The ceasefire must be respected, and civilians must be protected in accordance with international law.

With a new ceasefire in place, UNRWA must be allowed to do its job — to fulfill its UN mandate and deliver relief, just as it has in the past.

Let UNRWA work.
Let the trucks in.
Let aid in now.
UNRWA, the UN-mandated agency for Palestine refugees, is the only organization with the capacity, experience, infrastructure, and community trust to deliver life-saving aid safely and effectively to the millions in Gaza. That aid is their right, not a favor.
As UNRWA USA Executive Director Mara Kronenfeld reminds us, this crisis is completely avoidable.
This famine is not natural. It is manmade, and it is preventable.
In Gaza, that right is being denied. Famine has taken hold, and thousands of Palestinians have gone hungry while 6,000 UNRWA trucks — enough to feed 1 million people for four weeks — are being blocked by the State of Israel.
🍞October 16 is #WorldFoodDay — a reminder that food is a human right, not a privilege.
From Turtle Island to the occupied Palestinian territory, the struggles for justice and belonging are deeply intertwined. Together, let’s build a world rooted in solidarity, dignity, and collective care. ❤️
Honor this day through action:
👉🏽 Acknowledge the Indigenous lands you’re on.
✊🏽 Stand in solidarity with displaced peoples—Palestine refugees and Indigenous alike.
📣 Share and amplify their stories to inspire others to act.
