Warren County feels more rural, and Salem/Cumberland if you've ever been to either.

I went to Sparta on Saturday, and while I'm not looking to move there, I didn't hate it, I understand the appeal of Lake Mohawk. I kind of like Newton (baby Morristown) too. It's really the northern part of Sussex where it really feels like you're in the middle of nowhere.

Fancy or cheap ones? There's one in a hotel in College Point, Queens called The Buffet that is dope as hell.

The NYC business community is spooked. If they can't get rents down, they might get a full communist next time as opposed to Mamdani.

Poland is now "nearly as rich as the UK" after seeing real GDP per capita grow 18% since 2019, compared to 1% for the UK, notes @thetimes.com.

"In some ways Poland is already ahead...[with] faster mobile internet, cheaper electricity and more high-speed rail."
Poland is nearly as rich as the UK. How has it caught up so fast?
When it comes to investment, particularly in its regions, perhaps Britain is the country that needs to keep up

Saw a bunch of these on the ground near The Beacon.

NYC has made real reforms on housing, but they need tax fairness to be start bringing down rents. You take the Mamdani coalition, Black/Hispanic homeowners outside of Manhattan, and conservatives on Staten Island, all of whom get screwed by status quo, maybe there's a path.

www.nytimes.com/2020/01/30/n... The biggest challenge @stevenfulop.bsky.social has in NY imo is lobbying the legislature to fix the biased tax system that stymies new housing construction, or effectively limits projects to 99 units that use 485x.

Wish a mayoral candidate would strike the balance of enforcing anti-loitering on the Grove St pedestrian plaza without wanting to rip it out and turn it into parking.

Having over a hundred thousand renters who treat your city as essentially another NYC neighborhood with cheaper housing and worse transit isn't a burden, it's an asset. There are so many cities, even the likes of Chicago and Phila, who would love to have that "problem."

So is this just delayed? It did seem like the statewide declaration was overkill. I changed my plans, but in part bc I wanted to see a movie.

I fucking hate these people. I think you saw my comments about a local pathetic loser who was saying that.

I think there's a range of implicit to explicit anti-Asian sentiment in opposition to development. "It's not for us," "they're all transients," etc... It's sick, gross, and wrong
upzonenj.bsky.social
Walking past the fully leased Journal Squared towers a few min ago, I can't help but wonder. Those are hundreds of residents. If those and similar projects weren't built, where do you expect those people to go, and what do you think would happen to rents?
upzonenj.bsky.social
Acknowledge? This fall's campaigns range from implicit to explicit anti-Asian messaging. Development's not "for us," they're all transients, etc... it's sick and gross shit.

I get the complaining if you live in Southern California, but otherwise this is just good city planning.

Trader Joe's Exec1: we'll sell lots of really good stuff at good prices

Exec2: that doesn't sound at all evil. We're a big company, we're supposed to be evil

Founder1: we are going to have the most inadequate, cramped, badly designed parking lots in the fucking world

Founder2: ok that works

The big issue with wind is power outages, it's probably going to be a bad few days if you have JCP&L.
upzonenj.bsky.social
Annoying they only used the Mount Holly forecast. Seems like NJ shore and South Shore of Long Island will get hit hard. There will be some rain, but wind is going to be the main issue.

This week's mail count - 3 McG, 1 Solomon. Also, a 50% off Wonder coupon if anyone wants that, lol. But this is probably the most negative ad of the mayoral race so far.

dunno, but it seems like the ticket to financial success is to target Asians. That sector has seen huge growth and is still imo under retailed compared to the % of the population.

The Chinese restaurant at Harborside actually has customers, which is a huge change for Harborside at a night or weekend, or really any time post pandemic. And I'm stuck here an extra 15 min bc HBLR still refuses to stagger its train lines to not be within 4 min of each other.
