The 0% budget increase looks like a last-ditch effort to salvage a mismanaged term. This article points out how ABC has fallen short of their promise to boost tree cover, and now that's at risk as staff is ordered to look for cuts.

Now it is all at risk."
The latest motion from @tomdigby1.bsky.social was passed by the @cityofvancouver.bsky.social last week, looking to extend summer beach hours for a safer, more enjoyable experience on our longest days.

Unfortunately, what could have been a painless, benign improvement to code of conduct w/ sanctions even in the case of a conflicted council majority (would not have applied to recent transgressions) was rejected by ABC in favour of watered down tokenism. Future councils can still skate around rules.

We need a Code of Conduct that not only sets expectations, but also ensures accountability when those expectations are breached."
Right now, when there's a serious breach, we don’t have any enforceable sanctions. @ptfry.bsky.social’s motion would change that by adding real consequences for misconduct & strengthening the Integrity Commissioner. Help us restore trust in local government: win.newmode.net/greenpartyof...
