The government is happy to lock kids up at 10 but will not allow kids on social media till they're 16.

The ceasefire has not magically solved
Israel’s genocide and 76 years of illegal occupation.

In fact:

- Israel just shot a Palestinian journalist

- Israeli tanks are still firing towards Gaza

- Palestinians still do not have their land back

This isn’t diplomacy. It’s just supporting fascism.
varshayajman.bsky.social
So much for “Australian leadership” when our government is vague about supporting a fascist winning the Nobel Peace Prize…
varshayajman.bsky.social
Apparently every subtly racist government policy or ad is “not that deep.”

Then you wake up to a headline like this:
varshayajman.bsky.social
2 years since October 7th, of a genocide live streamed in front of our eyes.

In that time, our politicians have and continue to fail us.

So much so, it seems like we’ve decided to look to our pop stars and internet personalities instead of people who hold power to sanction Israel.

Albanese recognised Palestine, saying

“You can't just watch what is unfolding there and not have a response.”

But Australia hasn’t even sanctioned Israel.

And now, when Israeli authorities have abducted and abused Australian citizens from the Global Sumud Flotilla, Albanese is silent.
varshayajman.bsky.social
“We don’t provide arms to Israel.”

Albanese said that just days ago at the UN General Assembly in New York when recognising Palestine.

Imagine spending tax payer money to fly across the world to lie.
varshayajman.bsky.social
Oh my gosh. We are “warning” the man who is leading a genocide instead of sanctioning Israel?!
varshayajman.bsky.social
We must cut emissions by AT LEAST 75% by 2035 to limit global heating to 1.5 degrees.

The Albanese government’s target to cut emissions by 62% is supposed to be a “compromise.”

But this isn’t about pizza toppings; it’s SCIENCE. There are no compromises when we’re at 1.3 degrees of heating already.
varshayajman.bsky.social
We need to cut emissions by AT LEAST 75% by 2035 to limit global heating to 1.5 degrees.

The Albanese government’s target to cut emissions by 62% is seen as a “compromise.”

The thing is, we’re already at 1.3 degrees of heating, and you CANNOT COMPROMISE ON SCIENCE.

A major a UN report found Israel is committing a genocide in Gaza.

Can we stop calling it a war or conflict now?

And @albomp.bsky.social can we sanction Israel now???
varshayajman.bsky.social
The Liberal party published this yesterday.

It’s either going to be us investing some money in renewables or a $600 BILLION hit to property value and spending $40 BILLION on disaster recovery in 2050.
varshayajman.bsky.social
Politicians throwing tantrums over net zero by 2050 is exactly why we’re going to have a 444% increase in heatwave related deaths.
varshayajman.bsky.social
"Now we will take the next step.”

That’s what the Labor government said after the release of the Climate Risk Report.

It’s as if they’ve never heard of climate change before.
varshayajman.bsky.social
Labor’s decision to give final approval for the Northwest shelf gas project really shows us that we didn’t vote for change.

We voted for “not nuclear”, not for climate justice or for our neighbours in the Pacific, who Australia wants to co-host COP31 with.

Absolute shame on Murray Watt.

Maybe the death of a right wing “activist” will be the catalyst for around gun reform that both parties have long avoided.
varshayajman.bsky.social
Israel ordered an evacuation of Gaza City - 1 million people told to flee their homes.

Israeli forces have killed 64,000 Palestinians since Oct 2023.

Journalists covering Gaza are being targeted.

What will recognising Palestine do when Labor fails to call this a genocide and sanction Israel.
varshayajman.bsky.social
Israel's highest court has ruled that the Israeli government has failed to give Palestinian prisoners enough food to ensure “a basic level of existence”.

Is this enough for Albo to call what's happening in Gaza a genocide???

“If he wanted to, he would.”

Australia expelled Iran’s ambassador for the Iranian government’s “likely” involvement in anti-Semitic attacks in 2024.

Meanwhile, Australia hasn’t expelled Israel’s ambassador, let alone sanctioned Israel, while it has committed genocide for years.
varshayajman.bsky.social
In 2023, Parliament was wasting time debating whether “from the river to the sea” was anti-Semitic.

After countless protests with 100s and 1000s marching, Australia will recognise Palestine.

While too little too late, it shows us protest works.

Now, Australia must sanction Israel.
varshayajman.bsky.social
On August 24, a national march for a Free Palestine, calling for the end to a genocide, is planned.

On August 31, the ‘March for Australia’ protest, calling for white supremacy, is planned.

Let’s see which one the Murdoch media labels as having “wild scenes” and “chaos.”

Friday was Indian Independence Day, a day to celebrate “the end of colonisation.”

For those of you who excuse your pro-Israel views saying “but Hamas”, I hope it’s also a reminder of the violence that existed in India’s resistance to the British colonisers.
