most certainly tied completely to both first+second movies. You might be lost without viewing both earlier films first. There's a ton of references for both movies in Tron Ares.
suppose you could watch it on it's own but beyond action sequences you wouldn't have a clue what they are talking about

I watched Blackout (2024) on Prime, it's a far better Wolfman movie than the actual new Wolfman Universal/Blum House 2025 movie.
Special effects aren't fantastic (low budget) but I still thought it was much better than the new #Wolfman movie in every aspect, that one wasn't worthy of the namesake.

I made it through three Howling movies, sighed heavily because I remembered why I haven't rewatched them in years. I am going to need some time before I try to watch the rest of the sequels. I only own the first one on dvd

I went and saw TRON ARES
It was decent and Jared Leto didn't ruin it despite staring and producing it. I liked the first two better, bit this one did a lot to tie those two together and leave it set up for a fourth movie. I might have gone in a different direction story wise but it wasn't bad.
