which sounds pretentious, but it's a very useful way to process how I perceive it. it's not just about language, it doesn't just help explain how you see art as communicative, it necessitates the human element of art to derive *anything* from what we see in creation.
videobun.bsky.social
in basic semiotic terms I would say the iconography is synthetic, the symbols are incidental (there is no gradient of interesting intended/unintended meaning that a human could produce, it's all unintended), and the indexical qualities are a lie (no human brush or perspective made it)
videobun.bsky.social
it's easier to describe AI as "soulless" theft, but you can also say most of its meaning is amalgamated with no intent. it lacks the components that would let you read the human behind the brush or lens and at best only offers immitation that is both confusing and unsatisfying
videobun.bsky.social
I wish more of semiotics escaped academics for common discourse even if it were frustratingly simplified because there's a lot of useful language there to navigate thoughts and strengthen arguments and against AI generated images.

trade w/ @robonickkolas.bsky.social I always appreciate the opportunity to draw a bunny for art of my own! got mine done just a bit late for the season, but there's still warm beaches out there, yeah?

Thanks so much again for this, really love the full scene composition and your characters in the background and how they're posed! Same with the details on Mauve, just overall lovely, I really appreciate it!

My half of an art trade with @videobun.bsky.social featuring their fursona Mauve! They told they never really have drawn them in a beach scene before, so I was happy to oblige!

This was great practice, especially for drawing hair and thebackground! Thanks for the opportunity!

A full-body art piece featuring Mauve (they/them, @videobun.bsky.social's fursona), an anthropomorphic rabbit with light purple further with darker purple accents, lounging at the beach under an umbrella. They are sporting some unique swimtrunks with carrots, broccoli, and beets printed as a pattern (probably a little stereotypical for a rabbit to wear, but they do look quite stylish!). In the background, a pair of anthropomorphic rabbits (Boxer and Katie, my OCs) are playing with a frisbee.

I was in an accident a couple month ago, I can't offer much, but if you just want some questions answered on what the process is like and how this typically pans out financially I'd be happy to pass along a little info.

I'd yap more, but it seems best that I should try to blog/journal about how these concepts manifest in my head with a moodboard alongside a writeup to get my vision across rather than make a 10 post long thread. I'll link those under posts if I can hold myself to that.

I don't think I posted this or formally showed this character off here in particular but their name is Fallow. Edgy synthetic soldier from a weird incubation factory that shut down - I mull over ideas related to a character designed to fight in a world that has moved past war with this one.
An anthro rabbit character with 3 designs; base suit, with helmet, base suit without helmet, and fully clothed
The base suit is primarily skin tight black with metallic armored bits at the knees and shoulders, a hard but thin chestplate, and cuffs at the ankles and wrist. the helmet is a large ovular bubble with a horn at the top and a screen-like closed eye on the side. a halo wraps with a wide radius around the neck. without the helmet, a solemn, gloomy looking rabbit face is revealed. in clothing, Fallow wears tall, knee high boots, and multiple layers of cloaks/jacket pieces to cover up.
