From an artist pov I've been a fan of Bandcamp for a while and couldn't complain, at least compared to other platforms. But for listening purposes I always just preferred to buy and download albums before I gravitated to streaming

Anyway. Sundown towns exist across the country, not just the south. So that's pretty neat. And Black people are still getting lynched miles outside of these places. Tired does not even begin to describe how I feel 🙂

That's poverty, not Blackness. It's the same reality in every country. Particularly ones that force marginalized people into poverty; you're gonna just see more of them there. Black Americans don't have the hate bone to create anything like sundown towns

It reminded me that just existing as a Black person is literally a death sentence. We were literally only safe because it was during the day. It's like Minecraft, the mobs come out at night. If there were Black versions of sundown towns they would have been disintegrated decades ago

Thinking about the time I'm pretty sure my family and I stopped to eat in a sundown town. We went into this restaurant and it was all white people and they were just staring. All smiles from the staff, but just...staring. I think we sat there waiting ages to be served, then we just left

Oddly enough I watched The Outwaters literally yesterday, which has a very similar plot design. And yet I came away from it feeling disturbed but in a much more preferable way. It didn't feel like a fetish film, and instead felt more like stumbling further and further into the void. Aces on that one

It's not even that the entire thing was gore, it was generally not even a gory film. It just felt extremely exploitative and fetishy towards literal children. Disturbing. And after checking the actors' ages they were barely 18 at the time. I dunno man, it just gave me the worst vibes as a horror fan
