Thank you very much! Yes it's from interstellar although hoenstly I didn't realize that when I found the ref haha . It's digital in photoshop, was exploring different brushes and textures to give it a bit more of a painterly feel

Silksong is finally here :D , cant wait to play it in only a couple of weeks.

Here's some very hollow knight inspired bug characters I made for a gamejam recently

Like the specific way you broke up the shapes and which colours you chose etc. How do you go about choosing specific ratios and colours etc? Are you studying photos of clothes and working it out yourself, or have you found any good resources that go over the pure visual design side of it?

I do have that book actually! I haven't gone through it properly yet but the bits I have read were very helpful, though I found most of the advice was more about the why of costume than the actual visual design of it. Maybe I'm thinking more of fashion design?

wow thank you for such a detailed reply, that was exactly the kind of insight I was hoping for, I love how much thought you are putting into the background and design, its what I'm trying to practice more of. The Teeth at the wrists implying imprisonment is such a great idea.
