I was at a Moth Storyslam in Brooklyn last night in support of a friend who was one of the storytellers. He absolutely killed it and then juuuust lost out to another person who also killed it. I'd never been to one of these before. Had a nice vibe. Def worth experiencing.
I agree with Mamdani on most things, but even if I didn't, I want him to win simply because of the people who don't want him to win -- Wall Street, corporations, Trump, DNC, RNC, all of Staten Island.

Mamdani Mocks Cuomo After Trump Offers His Backing

This may sound counterintuitive, but I'm over-the-moon about a rejection I got on a book query like a half hour after I sent it. Why? Cuz it was so darn fast, but still a nice rejection. On the downside, I would have loved to have worked with someone who is that switched on. Ah well.
Been helping my pal Farmer Dave at the Pleasantville Farmers Market for several weeks now. It's been a thoroughly fascinating experience meeting the vendors/interacting with the customers. We don't even feel like we're selling, just having a fun time. This is how all commerce should work.
Ah hell. Sent out the first of many queries today. Time to start the process.
Every so often my EV enthusiasm nosedives. Yesterday, I was running low and had to get somewhere fast. Stopped at one EVgo. Out of service. An Electrify America. 5 car deep line -- aholes charging to 100. Tesla (barf), line. Finally just went home and got my Subaru. Grrr. Still luv my Ioniq 6 tho.
Dunno if it's just his affect, but Cuomo seems to always mansplain.

Sliwa seems to start off well in his answers but then veers off into batshit territory.

Mamdani seemed like a frontrunner taking slapshots off his pads.
Went in for free servce for my Hyundai EV. Tried to sell me a wheel alignment despite the fact there was no noticeable pulling, and the wheels showed no uneven wear. Then tried to charge me $160 for a cabin air filter replacement. Dealerships just plain suck. It's why I use an independent mechanic.
Ugh. At least now I've steeled myself to them a bit with this encounter. And the next time I change an airfilter on my car, I'll come equipped with gloves and a spraybottle with acid.
Jeeeesus H Tap-dancing Christ! I was changing the cabin air filter on my EV. When I went to put the lid back on I saw this thing hanging out under it. From what I understand this spider isn't dangerous, but to see a 1 inch spider in a place you didn't expect, it can give one a fright.
The tax credit was BS. All it did was compel auto dealers to jack the price. If there's a downturn it'll be because the economy as a whole is challenging. You don't buy a fancy new EV when you're concerned about your job. You buy a predicatable used ICE car. Also GM EVs kinda suck.
Spent yesterday at the Pleasantville, NY farmer's market helping my buddy Dave sell his artisinal hot sauce, made with locally sourced ingredients to help Hudson Valley farmers. We're there the next 6 weeks. Stop by for some free tastings.

Dave's the guy on the right. projecthotsauce.com 🌶️🌱
I'm really looking forward to the Ferrari Elettrica. I know a performance EV isn't what's needed. Still, Ferraris are mobile works of art. Idgaf about the Ferrari "sound" (which people ridiculously complained about with the 296), I want to see Ferrari put their design skills into EVs.
This is probably why I think 90% of restaurants aren't very good. Not that I'm a gourmet type or that I even have particularly good taste. I just find a lot of food, specifically sides, taste like they come from a distributor like this and aren't made in-house.

That looks pretty darn good. I've done that with red corn I've grown and ground up. From what I found, a little extra oil helps. Like an 8th of a cup. I also add a touch more sugar. I've only done it a few times so I'm no expert. But it seems to work for me. Good luck with the next batch!
Every now and then I head over to Fox News just to see what most of America gets for their primary news.

After about 10 minutes I'm ready to hit the throttle on the booze and antidepressants.
Russian planes buzzing U.S. and NATO airspace. The douchebag president sends troops to Portland, OR.

Yep, that's about right.
Had similar thoughts when I first read about this. If I personally had $20K to blow, yeah I'd get one. But I like tinkering with stuff. For 95% of car buyers, they will want something closer to a Tesla. The barrier of EV entry is still high for most people.

I Saw The Affordable Slate Truck In Person. Now I’m Worried
Slate Auto's $20,000-ish EV truck is getting a lot of attention. But is this really what Americans want?

I only buy new cars and drive them until they die. That's actually better than driving only second-hand because: 1. Newer vehicles have better emissions. 2. I can control the maintenance. Plus, the EV that I bought new is quite literally better than any used one I can find in terms of efficiency.
I feel the same about solar. Despite their claims, whenever I got down to numbers they never worked out, but they kept coming back with "but you'll get subsidies!" Nope.
As for destination chargers I couldn't agree more. Places where cars sit for hours on end.
Having bought a Hyundai myself, I can attest to this and even go one further. In NY state we get an extra $2.5K rebate at point of sale. All it did was give the dealer less reason to come down in price. They finally did but they kept hammering me with it throughout my 3 days of negotiations. 🙄
I kinda think all that stuff about EV sales slumping when the $7500 credit goes away is a bit overstated. Personally I never liked it anyway. It was just incentive to raise prices. A better incentive would have been free charging for like 10 years.
