BREAKING: Republican Governor of Oklahoma comes out blasting deployment of National Guard from Texas to Illinois. Calls it a violation of States' Rights. MAGA and Trump are increasingly isolated on this -- as they should be. We will not stop until this insanity ends.

Secretly deploying Guard from one state into another, for politics, just further damages the trust Americans have had in an apolitical military.
votevets.org
In a stunning development, the Trump administration admits in court that it has moved California National Guard members into Chicago, which to this point has been done in secret. To be clear, there is no security reason to have withheld this information from the American people.
votevets.org
It sounds like Trump is trying to order the National Guard to "protect" a Federal courthouse, and the Chief Judge there is telling everyone that they do not need or want the Guard there. This is no way to run a military, or a country.

We are in the second week of the Republican shutdown.

Where are House Republicans? On vacation.

Went looking around the Capitol to see if any Republicans had the common sense to come back. Featuring @mcbride.house.gov.

Donald Trump has declared this to be a warzone. Maybe our memories are hazy, but any veterans out there remember inflatable animal costumes dancing during combat operations during OIF or OEF?

Our forebearers fought and died on battlefields to protect our right to free speech from tyrants. This right is so central to the Constitution we vowed to protect that it is enshrined in the very first amendment. You will NEVER take our freedom of speech away on our watch.

A new Trump administration memo would have immense consequences for one key group: 25% of all federal employees are US military veterans. Republicans are putting the financial security of hundreds of thousands of veterans and their families at risk.
Scoop: White House memo says furloughed federal workers aren't entitled to backpay
A move to deny backpay to up to 750,000 furloughed workers would dramatically escalate Trump's pressure on Democrats to end the shutdown.

“We are going to see a lot more homelessness, a lot more mental health crisis, a lot more people going to jail instead of into housing,” said Aaron Estabrook, an Army veteran and director of the housing authority in Manhattan, Kan.

"Instead of focusing on what actually improves force readiness, he continues to waste time and taxpayer dollars on He-Man culture-war theatrics."

Pete Hegseth's bluster of a new 'lethal force' is the opposite of what he's doing. He's misusing the military for political purposes and focusing on beards and pushups, while ordering wasteful deployments in Portland and Chicago, and getting us into a forever war with Venezuela.

4.4 million veterans live in rural America, many of whom are older and rely on Medicaid. With Republicans slashing funding, struggling rural hospitals face even greater challenges, putting veterans' lives at risk. #TrumpsHealthCareShutdown

The GOP controls the House, Senate, and White House, yet they've shut down the government. It's unacceptable that military families must rely on food pantries. Our troops shouldn’t pay the price for Republican political stunts. #TrumpsHealthCareShutdown

"We expected an increase, but didn't quite expect this," said Dorene Ocamb, Armed Services YMCA chief brand and development officer.

Trump's "performative military action" in Venezuela is a reckless escalation. Bragging about fatal strikes while bypassing Congress is a dangerous overreach that could drag the U.S. into another endless war without clear goals. #NoDepartmentOfForeverWars

Official VA emails advising veterans and federal employees to blame the "Radical Left" for the shutdown instead of Trump are facing criticism for using government channels for partisan propaganda, which violates the Hatch Act.
