A new multi-residential development coming to the corner of York and Dundonald Streets. This is responsible growth through densification, access to existing services. #Fredericton

Through the end of September the city of Fredericton has issued building permits for 1165 homes – 24% higher than the full-year record of 938 set in 2022, with three months left in the year. One of the latest is for an 8-storey, 85 unit apartment building on Queen Street.

And I heard about the incredible work of local organizations supporting newcomers 7 days a week — who now call Fredericton home.

Listening builds trust. It shapes better decisions.

It’s how we move Ward 10 Together. 🔗 ward10together.ca #CommunityVoices #Fredericton

👮‍♂️ Safety — top of mind across Ward 10.

🏘️ Affordable housing — especially for groups not well served today.

💬 Transparency — confidentiality matters sometimes, but openness should be the rule, not the exception.

💰 Taxation — making council more accountable for every dollar spent. #Fredericton

Three conversations today — with residents and a local community organization — all reinforcing one theme: listening matters.

Each brought thoughtful perspectives on what’s working, what’s not, and where we can do better together.

Tomorrow, Parliament will consider Bill C-242, a bill to amend the criminal code bail reform. I wrote my MP a letter asking him to support as it aligns with #Fredericton Safety Task Force Recommendations. open.substack.com/pub/ward10to...

The ‘Purple Punks’, a group of FHS students out collecting returnables for cancer.

I saw them out downtown, knocking on doors with bags of bottles & cans. Stopped to ask what cause they were out for, glad I did.

They couldn’t take e-donations, so made one on my walk home. #Fredericton

I need to listen to the recording and review each recommendation more closely, but credit where credit due: GNB showed up and brought what appears to be progress on key items.

More to come this weekend.

It’s time to bring this 30-acres to its full potential under a plan that was agreed to by all years ago. #Fredericton

I want to be clear: my comment is not partisan.

I see this crisis unfolding daily as I live in the so-called ‘square mile’.

It’s only gotten worse this summer. New faces, more potent drugs, more hopelessness on our streets, in our parks and in our shelters. #Fredericton

“The extension may be necessary, but it is also a warning sign: we are sliding into using emergency shelters as quasi-permanent housing. It keeps people alive, but it does not address the core issue — untreated mental health, addictions,...”

Beauty day calls for a spin on the trails.

The Nashwaak Bridge to the Gibson trail looks great, trees planted at the McGloin end of the trail and a refuel stop.

It was a good day! #Fredericton

I didn’t know municipalities are shared for property assessment service by GNB like property owners. I see my assessment charge every year and just 🤷‍♂️ but now?

I pay the city’s portion too.

I’d sure like to understand why it costs so much.

Time for change.
