It's (not) finished!

Deadline is at 6PM, but I sleep all day today, so this is as much as I could make in the 70 hours that I had to work on it. All art, code, and sounds were done by me and me alone...which is why it's as rough as anything that I make.

I just defeated Troupe Master Grimm, and it was a beautiful work of illustration and animation, razor sharp game design, and one of my favorite moments in this magnificent game.

My experience with Hollow Knight has left me with a few impressions I can say up front:

Gauntlet rooms and the Colosseum of Fools are awful.

The bosses can be truly magnificent.

On the way home from a concert a couple of nights ago, I had an idea for how to make it work using what I do know about how to code in GMS. I just tried out the first bits of it...

...and it fucking works.

Time to iterate, and see if it'll continue working.

Programming whinge incoming:

So, I am a complete hack who has no idea what he's doing and I've made that clear any time I talk about programming or game design, etc. That said, I've wanted to write a turn based combat system and make an RPG the entire time I've been tinkering.

Few bands are as immensely lame as Journey, and this just cements that fact.

I do wonder…are there any actual Journey fans? I’ve never met anyone who loves the band and calls out like…deep cuts, b-sides, anything like that. It’s always just middle age white folk who sing Don’t Stop Believing.
