How many original horror films making shit tons of money will it take for executives to realise "wait, hang on, if we make films for them, they'll turn up". Superman is an exception, that's *basically* new given how malleable the concept is and how the character's been screwed in the past.

How many failures until Hollywood and pop culture at large learns that the current movie watching don't fucking care about the 80s. No one fucking cares about Tron, no one cares about a Rambo prequel, no one cares about the fucking Rani, new stories. NEW ideas and IPs.

Depending on who's next this may become the most cursed Celebrity Death Rule of Three ever, and it's already extremely cursed.

If a terrible person bites it in a violent or state sponsored manner (eg death penalty) I usually have to balance my opposition to vigilante justice and government power over life and death on principle vs thinking the person in question sucked. But this time, nah, LMAO.

Most of Lost in Time is now accounted for thanks to Blu-Rays and animations adding in all the features and surviving episodes on here but Daleks' Master Plan, Wheel in Space and Space Pirates are still unaccounted in terms of DVD releases for so until they're on the shelf, this bad boy stays.

When Doctor Who returned in 2005, the average fan could own a grand total of THREE Second Doctor stories on DVD - Tomb of the Cybermen, Seeds of Death and Mind Robber. Then Invasion due to the Cybermen's TV return, then War Games and Dominators. There was so few to release 😭

The Krotons was the last complete story released on DVD that was in the archives at the time, then obviously when Enemy and Web were found they were added, The Ice Warriors and The Moonbase animations were around that time and Underwater Menace had its first rushed DVD release in 2014. Not too bad!

Weird fact - between 2001 and 2010 your Patrick Troughton Doctor Who 2Entertain collection consisted of 6 stories. Four years later, and that number doubled thanks to the 2013 haul + animations.

Lloyd and Bryant were so confident the Yeti would be a hit that Web of Fear was commissioned before Abominable had even finished filming. Meanwhile the Ice Warriors only got a follow-up a year later. Of all the 60s attempts at the "new" Daleks, only the Cybermen were more successful than the Yeti.

The Yeti are one of the most iconic Doctor Who monsters of all time despite only being in two stories from the 60s that have spent most of their existence being unwatchable. I think Camfield's work on Web of Fear is THE reason these guys stick in the mind so much. Just look at them!
wenbbilliams.bsky.social
Of course now RTD is not ever going to touch them cause "cUlTuRaL aPpRoPrIaTiOn" (he says whilst still calling the guy Sutekh), but honestly, I don't need them back, the GI himself was done alright and the Yeti can't really be used without him.

I know some said it was a shame they didn't return alongside the Great Intelligence, but Moffat implied he didn't do it as the concept was too silly for a 2013 audience to take seriously. I get what he was saying, but the concept was silly *then*. And they're terrifying!

Loads of actors do this now and it means they de facto run the set. Being a producer means nothing now.

If an actress had two flops like this, her career would be over.

So why does Leto get so many?

STOP HIRING JARED LETO.

‘TRON: ARES’ has earned $14.3M in its opening day at the domestic box office.

For comparison, ‘MORBIUS’ opened to $17.3M.

Sandra Dickinson is in The Running Man 👀👀Edgar Wright loves casting veteran actors of cult British TV lol. Doctor Who fans have heard of her as Peter Davison's ex-wife and mother of Georgia (and thus mother-in-law of a certain Mr McDonald). More recently she was in The Batman.

I mean, I think we knew he'd do it, but the mad man is ACTUALLY gonna do it. Let's hope it doesn't crash with general audiences. Can't have that tower over the film's reception. I'd like a plane release for this film.
wenbbilliams.bsky.social
*sees the tower*

Oh wow he's actually fucking doing it.

I always like how Doctor Who Collection sets have the actor/writer documentaries on the last season they were a regular cast member on, it means you say goodbye to them on screen then the documentary is the epilogue. Lots of documentaries needed for Season 21 😂could we get a Gerald Flood one lol.
wenbbilliams.bsky.social
Is this the same documentary that's on the Season 13 box set?

Burn Gorman is the only Whoniverse lead actor where I don't immediately identify him as his Whoniverse character first, because I grew up with Pacific Rim so when I was old enough to watch Torchwood I was like "huh, that's the Pacific Rim guy".

I kinda think his entire post-2013 career exists because a filmmaker he admires tactfully told him they didn't enjoy Pacific Rim (probably Scorsese) and he was so ashamed he has gone totally award chasing every film now as an extended apology.

Shouldn't have needed to. Pacific Rim kicks arse
