You have no idea how long I worked on the 74 bit 🤣

Really interesting set of drams, thanks Andy and Brian as always for making these nights possible

Remind me never to try and work out a theme ever again

I preferred the one they did for £45

Well that blew my theory out of the water

My guess on theme

Roy Easing Vatting = Signatory Vintage
And I’m going with all drams being under £75, as it’s all I’ve got

5 Score: 4, best of the night for me

Finish: Long. Astringent, ashy smoke, nutty oak and lemon zest. Ginger beer heat builds and lingers with the lemon citrus note

Feels very Caol Ila but I’ve been wrong many times

Palate: Hello smokiness, my old friend. I’ve come to talk with you again.
Drying, ashy bonfire smoke, burnt pork ends, charred roast pineapple, lemon citrus and a touch of ginger and black pepper warmth. Water brings creaminess to the mouthfeel and subtle maltiness.

5: Nose: It’s peaty time. Beach barbecue meats, a touch of medicinal phenolic iodine, tropical fruit, touch of oily rag, coastal brine

4 Score: 3, it’s ok but doesn’t quite hit the mark for me

4 Finish: Lemon posset and chilli, which builds before gradually subsiding

4 Palate: Initial burst of lemon citrus and fizziness on the palate, green apples and lemon curd follow, together with a bite of chilli. Water reduces the fizziness and heat and brings a note of lemon meringue filling.

Not going to say the anagram until all 5 are done, 74th = under £75

Straws firmly clutched

4: Nose: Tropical fruit, green apples, petrichor, cut grass on a lawnmower blade, lemon citrus

I tend to be hyper sensitive to sulphur in unpeated whisky, this one is just too much. Feels very Sherry, PX and Oloroso mix finish?

3 Finish: Drying, nutty oak, cinnamon, ginger and a gentle hint of sulphurous struck match

#BlindDrams
whiskyodyssey.bsky.social
3 Palate: Mildly astringent, dried fruit, nutty oak, red berries, a subtle note of struck match, together with warming cinnamon and ginger. Water brings more astringency and a little more sulphur

3: Nose: Orchard fruit, pineapple, mango, lemon and orange citrus and a touch of furniture polish
