LIFER BANDED SAND SNAKE, LET'S GOOOO.

Very special find for me. When I moved to Arizona, my goal was to try to get my snake species lifelist up to 70 before going back to Tennessee in November. It got close, but I finally clutched my 70th snake species last night! #herps 🐍

A couple of Sonoran Desert Tortoises I found while hiking a new location! Very stocked to find a couple of healthy adults during the same day! #herps 🐢

For sure, I did turn up a few Colorado ones back in May in SoCal, but genuinely surprised it took me this long to turn up a Sonoran in AZ.

Finally found my first Sidewinder in Arizona last week! This has to be one of my favorite species in general, they are just so unique in how they look and how the move. #herps 🐍

Lifer California Kingsnake I found on a desert road the other night!!!! This was not in my bingo card, I saw this snake from the car and immediately knew what it was and I was soooo excited!!! What a beautiful species!! #herps 🐍

A tiny Desert Tortoise I found crossing a road! This is genuinely one of the coolest animals I’ve road cruised so far out west, it’s pretty tough to come across Tortoises this size class. So adorable! #herps 🐢

I've yet to see either of those, but I haven't been to Ridgenose range much, kind of bummed about Cal Kings because I keep finding them dor. Somehow, I still haven't seen a Gopher Snake alive, I've seen much rarer stuff like Lyre Snake and Rosy Boa but Gopher Snake for some reason just avoid me lol.

That sucks a lot. Seeing dor snakes is always heart breaking. The road where I found this guy and others had a fair amount of traffic but for once in a rare act of mercy from the world I only found one dor and the rest were alive.

Rattlers no matter what, they do not want to bite you, they will only respond aggressively if they feel threatened. Obviously, I had to get close and lift them with the snake stick, so if I was a snake I'd be terrified too. All of this to say, leave them alone and they will not bite 👍

A very angry Mojave Rattlesnake I found the other night. This particular night I found some chill rattlers and some angry ones, it was interesting to see their different personalities and was a good test for me to read their behavior. I moved them safely across the road as always! #herps 🐍

Took a while but here's my first road cruised Western Diamondback Rattlesnake! They were really big, one of the biggest rattlers I've seen, definitely an impressive animal. They were also such a sweetheart, never rattled or struck and I moved them off the road after some quick pictures! #herps 🐍
