I dunno: who are all these characters?
wholetthemonst1.bsky.social
Umm… sure! Don’t really have much of a choice. 😅

And yeah; easily one of Björk’s best.

Ooo, neat! :) Was a bit unsure since it’s such a slow buildup, but I’m glad you like it!

“… and then Who went up to Vicki and said: “Look, call Loona whatever you like, but unlike you and your fake hair, fake eyelashes and fake tits? She’s the real thing. Bitch!” PFFT! Fuck, she ran away crying…”

Of course, he turns out to be a complete pushover, but for a long while before you found out? He was probably the most mysterious and subtly scary aspect of the game for me.

So, when you finally do find him? While he doesn't do much, just the mere sight of him standing there, mostly still, can add a lot of paranoia to the proceedings. We've already had all this anticipation built up from the power outage and E. Gadd's suggestion, so just how dangerous is Uncle Grimmly?

The thing that makes it even more scary is that we don't know who Uncle Grimmly is, so we don't know what he looks like. Plus, 'he likes dark places' is probably the vaguest hint one could give, seeing as the whole mansion is dark in this part of the game.

In other words, he could be ANYWHERE!

As such, it feels like they're trying to make you think, either knowingly or subconsciously, that something different is going to happen; that this Uncle Grimmly fella (that we have neither seen nor heard from until now) must be a more intense and fearsome individual than most.

The reason why this creeped me out was that this was the first time we were actually made aware of one particular Portrait Ghost; it was also the first ghost to be referred to by name.

It's a considerable difference in the usual gameplay loop.

He tells us that this moment of temporary darkness could be an opportunity to catch one ghost in particular. Namely, Uncle Grimmly.

According to E. Gadd, Grimmly prefers darkness, and is usually one to seek out the darkest places to hide out in.

The moment that I remember most fondly was the fact that E. Gadd called you up, talking to you in the dark and quiet room. Usually, he would use the Gameboy Horror to communicate, so him calling on the phone is already a further upset from the norm.

That's when we get to the Telephone Room. The Telephone Room is probably the most suspenseful part of the game, just from the lack of music and the ambience provided from a ringing telephone.

However, as scary as it is, it's not this bit that completely gets to me.

So, anyone who played the first game must be aware of the part where the electricity goes out in the mansion. It's undoubtedly the most tense part of the game, seeing how there are now resting spots anywhere until the power switch in the basement gets flipped back to 'on'.

It's been a while since I talked about Luigi's Mansion (I still have to finish the Portrait Ghost-tier list), so what better way to get back into the groove than to talk about the one moment that creeped me out?

Eh... it's NOT a very good movie, but I WILL say that I was still really entertained by it. Like, it's mostly a dark comedy, and I think that, as long as you see it as that, it's pretty decent.

It's no 'Salem's Lot', that's for sure.
