In general very nice to only see blue checks on accounts that actually need verification
Didn't know this was an Orlac film
Near the end. Overall this doesn't match up to the 1931 version, but I still think it's a competent and often effective iteration.
I suppose Lana Turner isn't doing one either, but it feels like it still has an English affectation. Ingrid Bergman doesn't either but it works for the character
Little odd that this takes place in London and everyone has an English accent except Spencer Tracey, though I suppose I prefer his natural accent to any attempt at an English one
A third in, Claude Rains delivering a tour-de-force as per usual, unfortunately not too much else going on
Did not know this was in Technicolor, to my recollection it might be the only Universal Monsters movie in color?
I have the Universal Classic Monsters Essential Collection on Blu-ray, this is the only one I haven't seen before so I figured I would correct that
Unfortunately my first thought was "wait so who's the Duke of York now"
What's even better is that it works
It's so awesome that the Wizard goes "I'm not a very bad man I'm a very good man" and then immediately starts huckstering again
The Scarecrow's makeup looks incredible
Feeling like that kid in A Christmas Story who says "I like the Wizard of Oz" as a non-sequitur
I was going to heat up dinner later during the movie but I regret not doing so before because I'm already hooked
I lived in Kansas for a few years as a kid. I remember in class the teacher asked us what Kansas was known for, and the only things the class could come up with were it's where Dorothy and Superman were from
One of those primordial movies for most people, I personally haven't sat down and watched it from start to finish in years but I probably have every second burnt in my brain
